Carrie Referenced in a New Eminem Song! (smile)

    youtube.com/watch?v=ZKIb8-Ar0tQ

Guys- Carrie has officially made it! She made it onto an Eminem song- which is huge! haha Don't worry- it is a good reference. He is singing about an ex, and he says "You used to be my Carrie Underwood, and I was your lumberjack"...then he refers to BHC and the Louisville slugger in the next paragraph.

The song is called Desperation, and will be on his new album. The Carrie part comes in around the last minute. Really cool!

I love that his reference was positive. That is an honor, really, since Eminem is not afraid to diss whoever he feels like in his songs. haha

Too hard for me to understand what he's saying without seeing the lyrics. But I'm happy he used her as a good reference.

He says something like "You used to be my Carrie Underwood and I was your lumberjack." - referring to his ex, when things were good. Next line he refers to BHC and the Louisville slugger. haha

Cool cool. I like when her name gets used in pop culture.

And since some consider his music to be a benchmark for pop culture. the reference will live on in infimy

Ha ha ha. Ok I heard it. I am still thrilled she is mentioned. But it is not exactly in a good way.

I believe the reference is to imply that the girl wanted him to be in an artifical relationship "like she was Carrie Underwood, and I was her lumberjack!", and when he doesn't go for it, she goes off on him with a baseball bat. Ha ha ha ha......

ITs funny, and its a great reference, but it is not necessarily positive.

(and considering the content and the context, I am not sure how proud she will be. But just like when a comedian makes fun of you, I guess it is all good when you are used in mainstream pop culture.)

^ No I didn't take it that way at all. He was not making fun of Carrie. He was just using her as a reference. I listened to the whole song too. It was NOT a diss of Carrie at all.

^ HE said "You USED TO BE my Carrie Underwood, and I was your Lumberjack." That is a term of endearment, when things were good-- and he may have meant it in a sexual way (clearly) but not in a bad way at all. You missed the key word "used to be my carrie underwood." He didn't say he wanted her to be Carrie Underwood or to be in an artificial relationship. It was a term of endearment for when things were good. It may have beeen a sexual reference-- ie- Underwood, lumberjack- lol-- but that is not a big deal. It was not negative.

yeah i listened again, and this is what he says around the 3 minute mark or so: "Hoe thought you were too good for me huh? Yeah you used to be my Carrie Underwood, I was your lumberjack"

That is a reference to how things were good in the past, and sexy. haha He then goes on to talk about the Louisville slugger in a continued Carrie BHC reference.

But the main line about Carrie was not negative. It was talking about when things used to be good-- She was his Carrie Underwood, or his cutie or shorty or whatever you want to call it. He was not calling Carrie artificial at all. not sure where you got that? He was dissing the ex all throughout the song-- but that part referred to when things were good.

Ha ha ha, hang on, I did not say he was making fun of her.
JUst that it was not a "positive" reference. It was a great reference, and I like the fact that he made it, but if you listen to in the context of the song, I think he makes it pretty clear that "she" is the one who wants to be his carrie underwood and she wants "him" to be her lumberjack. And when he is not down with the relationship she goes off on him Carrie Underwood-style.
Its a great reference. I think its very cool.

I am just saying it is not a term of endearment coming from him. The song is basically saying she is "desperate" and it is not love. And when he trys to get out of it she goes off.

I think you may be misunderstanding the words, I think he was suggesting that "in her mind" she was his carrie underwood and he was her lumberjack.

But he did not want to be her lumberjack.

In other words; she wanted the perfect relationship and he did not want that kind of relationship. He states clearly throughout that she wanted something he did not want. He was not going to give her the keys to his place.

^ lol yeah I agree the whole song disses the ex pretty hard! Lol but he doesn't say You want to be my Carrie Underwood. He says" you used to be my Carrie Underwood"- so that is a term of endearment to the past when it was good. Now he hates her guts! Lol agree!

You're going to make me listen to it again, and I really hate that. Ha ha ha ha.....

Someone post the lyrics so I don't have to.

Again, I am pretty sure he is refering to "her wanting to be his Carrie Underwood" and not that he actually viewed her as his Carrie Underwood.

It's a long song - the reference to Carrie comes in the third verse. This is the verse, according to rapgenius.com
(I should warn people - it does contain some strong language)

"Just want you to myself, don't wanna share you with no one else
What the f**k you whispering for? You get on my nerves, you make me sick
I think our relationship, it seems to be on the fritz
I mean it's time that we just split and leave the games behind
Your frame of mind ain't the same as mine, I think
You need to finish developing a little more mentally too, get the picture?
That's a negative, Alicia, I will never give the Keys up
To the crib, ever again, no reason not even a gift certificate from Tiffany's
You better have an epiphany, slut, guess what? (what) ???
I'm just mad it took the time it took me to discover
You been using me for loot like I used you for looks
Thought you was too good for me, huh?
used to be my Carrie Underwood, I was your lumberjack, but I can't stomach this
I'm leavin you, not comin back. She said "The f**k with that
    Where's my Louisville Slugger at?"
She grabbed that f***in bat and swung it at my head
I barely ducked and that's right when she came up with a kick to the nuts twice
Steel toe, girl probably coulda put a 100 yard field goal, through the uprights"

Not necessarily what fans may see as positive - I think opinions may vary on that, but the context is obviously inspired by the "revenge song" theme. Some of the earlier references to the female character are not flattering - but he only uses Carrie's name in that verse.

Tee is 100% right about it being a reference to the "good times" in the past. The entire song is him being over this girl and now thinking she's crazy. But he didn't always, obviously.
