Perhaps the songs with demo clips are songs that Carrie has agreed to let other artists use?
Yes, the clips weren't the issue, and are unlikely to be controversial. The problem appears to have been that a worker or observer at the time is believed to have obtained or kept a tape of at least a whole song (Oklahoma Wind, and/or others) and allowed copies to friends, which soon spread over the internet. Carrie seems to have reacted by dropping all planned songs from that publishing house, including ones by Ashley and Jon. What I don't know is whether her decision was a one-off, or whether it has continued to have an ongoing effect.
