I'm with you team WAW....I love that song!
I love Who Are You!!! Great way to show her love for God and EPIC vocals!!!
#TeamGIG and #TeamWAY![]()
I'm Team anything but NETY, TGFH or WAY! ; ) haha
I'm Team Country! I don't care which track it is, NETY, LLA, CGAS, or WAW, I just want a real country single from this era. Please!
I'd be shocked if GIG was released...it's just not radio friendly in the least. WAW, CGAS, or DYTAM would all be awesome!
Cool discussion, What occured to me watching that clip (amazing btw), was that she rarely sings a song that is simply about an emtional moment. Something simple and from the heart. Relatable to everyone at once.
Usually her songs are epic tales or concepts, Rarely are they about simple emotions.
DFTRM / ITYS are both like that. and both are among my favorite releases of hers.
I personally love GIG, but I think it is too long to hold the listeners attention on the radio. It has a very long arch to it from beginning to end. It is among her best singing though and the fact that her live vocal sounds almost improved from the recording is just amazing. Amazing to us! Maybe not so amazing to the general public.
Great song and great vocal. But it does not have the elements required to be a single. (of course neither did MS)
And talking about One Way Ticket, check it out this video!
One Way Ticket by Carrie Underwood - Lyric Video - YouTube
You know whats funny??
Taking OWT completely out of the context of the album Blown Away works to its advantage greatly.
But this is a song you might hear on the radio, not country radio.
If country radio played Good Girl and Blown Away then they will play OWT for sure! :P
Anyway, I know that OWT not will be a single.
I don't think Good In Goodbye would be the right choice for the next single. I hope they release Wine After Whiskey.
I don't think any song has to have specific, 'required' elements to be a single. I always prefer to hear songs that sound good on the radio, though, and IMO GIG just doesn't sound like the right single for country radio.
Although I wasn't a fan of MS as a single, I actually thought it sounded pretty and soothing on the radio. Carrie's vocal is so calming and sweet; I found it to be a refreshing change of pace from the bad girl/ redneck guy/loud guitar/ear splitting redneck anthems on the radio all the time.
I don't think GIG is too long, myself, and if radio felt that was the case they would release a radio edit, and they did for TBC.
Like SYA, I see GIG as more of a crossover song that sounds like it could fit right at home on Adult Contemporary radio.
The lyrics would connect with the country music audience, but something about it doesn't feel like a genuine fit for country radio.
However, I'll support anything Carrie releases, and if we got a 5th single I'd be estastic; BA has so many amazing songs, Artista cannot just stop at 4.
You guys realize that GIG was the best-selling album track during release week, right?
Agreed! And yes, I will take anything as a 5th single as well. We have never actually had one have we?
I know we had ITYS, but that almost seemed like an afterthought.
As for MS. I completely agree. Oddly, I did not feel like it worked all that well in the album, but when it came on the radio it was always just a beautiful glimmering light. IT really was beautiful sounding on the radio.
