Carrie/NeYo/Luke cowrite 'Walk Away' - Clip

As most of us probably know, Carrie, Ne-Yo and Luke Laird wrote a song called "Walk Away."

'Smash' actress Megan Hilty has recorded it for her upcoming 'It Happens All The Time' album.

Clips of her songs are now up:

Amazon.com: It Happens All the Time: Megan Hilty: MP3 Downloads

    UPDATE:

Listen to the full song on Spotify --> http://open.spotify.com/track/3nVdLDfp7lOlQptGpYp1w3

    I like it.

It sounds pop, though, so I can see why it didn't make the cut on PO.

Is it just me, or does Megan sound an awful lot like Kat McPhee in that clip?

It's good to see Carrie get another songwriting credit on a different artist's recording. Megan Hilty has previously sung "Crazy Dreams" - so I would guess she's an admorer of Carrie. I haven't heard her version of "Crazy Dreams", but apparently she used a very different musical arrangement, so it may be that she admires Carrie primarily as a lyricist, and sees scope for re-interpreting her work in other styles.

Did anyone notice, the album also includes a version of the Civil Wars' Grammy winning song "Safe and Sound"? (from the clip this also seems to involve a lusher, more Pop-pleaning musical arrangement)

Strictly speaking, that song was a four-way co-write, but I do believe Joy and John Paul wrote most of it, within a framework for the movie laid down by T-Bone Burnette. It fits closely into their stylistic output (and bears little resemblence to Taylor Swift's). I think comparing their respective albums bears that out.
