Well Carrie and her husband Mike did a nice PSA recently against bullying as a teen that they knew committed suicide.....so I am pretty sure she is supportive of everyone. She LOVES Ellen Degeners and follows her on twitter. She has complimented Adam Lambert and even defended him after the AMAs. She loves Queen Latifah and hung out with her at the Super Bowl when she sang. She adores Neil Patrick Harris....and invited Neil and Cojo to be in her Xmas Special, plus hung out with Neil when she was on HIMYM. So IMO she is not only tolerant of gays, but she loves them the same as anyone else.

Carrie's biggest musical influence is George Michael, who is gay. She even went to his concert in Florida recently and glowed that she got to meet him, and how nice he was.

She also went to Elton John's Aids Oscar party and sat right at his table.

Carrie seems the type to believe that "Jesus Loves all his children" equally, which is basically right in the bible. I don't think she has it in her to hurt a fly, much less hurt a human being.

I wouldn't be a Carrie fan if I wasn't tolerant. And I'm not offended at all by Carrie naming Jesus or God on her songs.
I love country music and I think it actually made a better person out of me. That's how much I love it.

But I do have to say, as a gay male teenager, that I often think about how tolerant country musicians are.
I feel country music is such a religiously-themed-music (sorry for that play of words, I didn't know how to explain it in other way) and I know how Christianity think about certain topics, and how judgemental they are, so sometimes it's hard to know that I'm maybe a fan that Carrie wouldn't appreciate. You know what I mean???

I'm not saying that Carrie is anti-gay or anything, I never heard anything about that topic coming from her mouth.

But yeah, this anti-whatever makes people want to divide other people.

I'm not a fan or rodeos, nor hunting. I'm a vegan and I don't see animals like food sources, nor funny objects.
So I would be one of those people who would cheer if Carrie decided to take a stand on this.

But then again a lot of rodeo fans or hunters would be offended by this and feel attacked or not appreciatted by Carrie.

    This is a hard topic.

    you can't always win.

Agree. Carrie seems to embrace everyone.....and remember-- she is a HUGE fan of George Michael....who is openly gay. She went to his show in Florida and was glowing that she got to meet him backstage.

She also helped Ricky Martin out with his video for Haiti relief last year.

Yes, Carrie is what I called a flexible-Christian: a Christian person but socially liberal.

^ I like how you said that. She even once said that she voted for the person who had the least negative ad campaigns.....ha ha So she seems pretty open minded.

First I want to say, I think Carrie would love you no matter what your sexual orientation was, that is just the way she is. And I wanted to add that not all Christians are intolerant. I am a Christian, have a gay son and love him the way he is. I find that those who are intolerant/bigots are just big bullies. And I have come to realize (working in a big school district in CA) that bullies are insecure and the way to make themselves feel good about themselves is to pick on others. So, back to the subject of the anti-rodeo/hunting comment - they are just big bullies and as Russ said, we need to have Carrie's back.

You are so right and I must apologize. Like you guys from now on I will let ABC,NBC,CBS,CNN,MSNBC,Joy Behar,Whoppi Goldberg,The View,Jay Leno,Dave Letterman, Jon Stewart, all the unaccountable internet bloggers and the like give me all my opinions so that I won't have to think for myself any longer. How could I possibly be so shallow. Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you. That being said I do Love Carrie Underwood.

I will say this, I don't actually believe much of what I hear/read. I take it all with a grain of salt. Everyone has an agenda and I know that if you asked a broadcast journalist they would say they are being neutral, but everyone's beliefs/bents come in no matter how hard you try.
So back to the rodeo/hunters - they just want to make the news and get some Carrie fans riled up so that they will be in the news. If they start to defame Carrie then I like CarrieFlattsFan say Carrie needs to take them to court and sue them!!!!!

Or you could listen to the guy's broadcast. I believe that's enough evidence right there to form an opinion.

I'm not saying anyone should disagree with his point, but if you honestly think the way he worded it is perfectly fine... then I don't know what to say.

No one said any of that, and your response is more defensive than it needs to be. The man surely has opinions and views shared with a lot of Americans, and that'd perfectly fine, valid and respected. But, I'm sorry, some of the words that have come out of the man's mouth are unacceptable. They may have been "in a broader picture", or "in the heat of the moment", but they're still bigoted.

No one is asking for you to listen to liberal media people, and I wish you wouldn't make assumptions about me since you don't know anything about me. And if you really have a problem with people "forcing their opinions down your throat and not leaving you to think for yourself", then is Rush Limbaugh really the man you want to listen to? Cuz he's never, in any mild way left any room for me to form my own opinions at all. JUST SAYING.

Defensive or satirical you choose just please do not be utterly intolerant of any belief, creed or opinion that differs from yours. Especially if yours lacks any foundation.

I will NEVER agree with a bigot. Sorry. It seems like a fairly moral foundation to find his words reprehensible. That calm enough for you btw, may you've already said this, but please, inform us, what's your foundation for agreeing with him?

You asked me to provide a single instance as a piece of evidence to base my opinion. I did. You did not respond to that. I recommend you do, for it may help you see where I'm coming from.

    Until then....bigot.

Sorry, not meaning to be ignorant, to be fair to liz, it was I who asked the question...I know some people consider Christianity to be polytheistic in a weird sense because of the Trinity, I diagree because I believe that they are all the same God. Judaism and Islam are as monotheistic as they get. Hinduism too is monotheistic, contrary to what many think - the essence of Hinduism is ONE GOD...We just have a billion stories and tales and myths and legends and festivals that are so intense they confuse us too sometimes

So, yeah, are there really any existing polytheistic religions? Lol, Scinetology, maybe, but let's face it, no one takes them seriously

Again, I don't mean to be ignorant or offensive.

Ahh, Wow....how did this happen? Oh yeah, talking religion.
So now we know why Carrie has figured out not to go there. And just live a life acceptable to God and free of judgement.
I am called to task by her ability to "tolerate" many times.
Most ofen in the TS thread I am reminded "what would Carrie think?"
She is a model for me in that way for sure. I think she judges (for to be honest with oneself you must hold tight to the truth as you see it), but she is kind enough and compassionate enough to allow others their own sense of self. She defines herself through herself, her husband (I believe) and her God.
I really do wish I could be more like that.
But God (or life) made me just a little cynical.
We all come together with our brokeness and strength. WE have watched someone thrown into a huge and scary world and through her strength and toerance she has come out the victor.
We can do the same by recommitting ourselves everyday to allow others to have their own way. It does not diminish us one bit.
    IT actually makes us stronger.

That is false! They are not all the same God. One needs a very careful, in depth study to understand the character of God (for each belief). For example, the God of the Bible is very different than the "god" of Hinduism. One desires a personal relationship with His creation whereas the other is attribute-less.

It is a complete myth that "all ladders" lead to the same God. That is an insult to the "god" of each religion.

I can go on and write many paragraphs but am refraining.

Rush must love the fact that even on a Carrie Underwood fansite he is a major topic of conversation... LOL. If your conservative you LOVE Rush and you take his apology at face value.... If your not conservative then you hate Rush just as much now as before he made the statement or apologized...Politics and Religion do not belong in this thread... How they got here isn't the Question... The Question is why are people still responding? So I better take my own advise and leave it at that...

False. If your EXTREMELY conservative you may like rush. Many conservatives find him disgusting tho. My mom HATES him. Thinks he gives conservatives a bad name and is helping to ruin the republican party.
