What I find funny is that Carnival Ride sounds much more country then Some Hearts and Play on. I think alot of people put her up on this pedastal of being country, and needing to sing straight country music becuase thats what they saw on American Idol. Honestly in my opinion, she should record whatever music she wants to and maybe like she said in that blog awhile back about stepping back and trying to get a new perspective. She clearly wont please everybody, so instead of catering to the needs of the industry she decided to put the kinda of music she wants her fans to hear and does not give two s**ts what the critics think. It doesnt matter whether she makes a rock, country, blues, pop album, haters are going to hate, but I as a fan will buy whatever she puts out, hell even if she did a hardcore rap album I would buy it lol.
I love the cover though, its so refreshing and different then any country album cover, I have seen in a long time and i agree with the person that posted about how the art could mean she is blowing away the old image of herself as a sweet, do whatever im asked kinda girl, and morphing into a mature beautiful Ill do whatever the heck I want cuz Im not aiming to please you industry lol
Btw I dont get the whole "stealing" Jolie's leg pose, considering the cover was shot way before the academy awards
im a little late here but i absolutely LOVE the cover![]()

Guys lets remember tho that GG has gotten positive reviews. Some reviewers clearly like this direction. There will always be those few traditionalists and yes, they don't like Taylor or lady a either. Just ignore them.
Becca
IMO, Some Hearts and Carnival Ride are country (Some Hearts more so), but Play On is definitely more Pop influenced (of course, it has country songs in it). I have a feeling Blown Away will be heavily country influenced.
Like I said, you can record what you like, just call it what it is.
I think there are some critics who don't really like anyone depending on the day.
I agree with you that there are always going to be those that want to hold onto a certain definition of what country music should sound like, whether they are called traditionalists or some other name. Country music is a very broad genre, and every aspect of the genre brings something special. Country music has had elements of pop and rock music since the 50s/60s. It's not new. Unfortunately, it seems the newer artists (from the last decade or so) are the ones being blamed the most. Great music is great music, regardless of genre.
Carrie's new music will be great. As long as the listening audience likes it and buys it, that's all that matters.
Off topic, but I really wanted to say I like the Mariska quote in your profile, Becca!
me and my mom actually was talking about Carrie the other day since I was pretty irritated with a lot of David Cook fans (I'm a huge David fan) cause most of them hate Carrie for the main reason of that she's country so I was venting to my mom and we talked about how even though she is country, she brings something more to the table and that she makes it that it's not all completely country but at the same time make it sound modern and bring more to the table than to sound like typical country....since most of country music now in days are not what it used to sound like years ago, pop is being introduced to country, rock is being introduced, and even rap is for some people...I don't agree with that article, yeah she may not be the cookie cutter version of what country music is supposed to be but she still brings out that country sound and I don't understand how they said Good Girl is not countryit does have that beat for country and it may be strong and edgy but that shouldn't point the song to not being country, there are so many country singers out now that are not stereotyped as being country, it's changing....there will always be people that want country to stay traditional of course, but lot of people and experts will disagree and love what's happening

I agree with calling it is what it is. But also to be fair across the board when catagorizing.
Some get a free ride and some get scrutinized.
Three blond young country artists can release music and it gets judged and catagorized in a completely different fashion. And some of us are just getting tired of hearing the same redoric when that same redoric is not used on the others in the genre.
It seems that TS is seen as a free young spirit who is intitled to view the world around her and put that down on a napkin and everyone appauds her childlike nature (and talk of county music or commitment to it never enters the conversation exept to acknowledge that it doesn't sound like country music, but It doesn't stop them from appreciating it either)
Miranda uses very cliqued styles and effects to "create the sound" of country music. So it almost doesn't even matter that the music does not resonate very well with the general population, she is still rewarded for a "preceived" authenticity.
Carrie repeatedly puts out music that she says follows her heart and speaks to her (and is always well recieved by country music listeners and the mainstream industry as well) but gets scrutinized as if there must be fault somewhere so critics must dig and proad deeply to find it. And it always ends up the same redoric. It's not country enough to be called country music!
Good Lord.
So for me, if this album stands for anything it will stand for the idea that came up earlier. Carrie is "blowing the image" off of the past and doing what she wants and is becoming who she wants to be. And that my friends is what country music is all about!

Then you will reviewers who are not going to like it just because they don't like whoever the artist is, that isn't fair but it is what it is and is why reviews good or bad don't really mean much when those people are not the ones who buy albums/singles, request songs on the radio or go to concerts.
Good reviews are nice to have but it is not going to make anyones career just because they got a good review.
hey guys just saw this interesting tidbit on twitter. wonder what this means??
pierce gibson @pgibso
Carrie Underwood shoot hour one. Need more fair trade coffee. #LA
Ty is it another grocery store vitamin water ad that no one gets to see but that one line if grocery store chain?
Or is this a real vitamin water ad that we willactually get to see?
It is a bit frustrating that she hasnt done any real
Vw ads or commercials since the horse whisperer one. So i hope she does ads and commercials again that are actually seen by the public. Lol

I'll bet we see another national one this era!!
By the way I heard GG on my AC radio station today and it sounded even better on the radio. I liked rocking to it.
