70,000 followers! YOWZAH!
C'mon one million!
Wow! That's crazy! I'm happy Carrie has attracted a lot of attention on Twitter. I hope she will continue to Tweet and hopefully share some photos.
This couldn't possibly really be Carrie on Twitter. Look at the latest post!"Have you heard Carrie's new song, "Good Girl," yet? Check it out here"!!
"I feel like it's not about the accolades or the sales numbers or the, you know, awards or any of that. It's about helping people with their lives and making a difference that way."
-- Carrie Underwood (VH1 Behind The Music - Sept 2012)
Lots of people use both their team to tweet stuff for them about tours, presales, itunes sales, videos, voting, etc---- and then the artists themselves also post personal tweets too.
It is normal to do that and I think it is a great idea. Let her team run the business side of it and she can do the personal stuff.
we are getting more tweets in 2 days then I thought we would.
I want Carrie to get 100k followers soon. Then we can start to shoot for 1 million. I don't think enough people realize she has a twitter yet.
However, a more accurate estimate may be obtained by calculating the Facebook:Twitter ratios for various artists.
Lady GaGa : 48.377/19.653=2.46
Rihanna : 52.071/14.070=3.7
Katy Perry : 40.019/15.459=2.58
SWSRN : 29.003/11.277=2.57
Miranda : 3.104/0.7=4.43
Carrie has 6.5 million fans on Facebook as of this post. If her F:T ratio is as high as Miranda's, she will only gain 1.47 million followers. If it is as low as GaGa's, she will gain 2.46 million followers.
The average appears to be roughly 2.5, which would mean she would get 2.6 million followers.
Of course Facebook and Twitter are very different platforms. Artists whose pages DON'T make regular posts tend to get more fans, because people on Facebook don't "like" pages because they want to receive feeds, they do so rather casually. If that page makes too many posts, they often get ticked off and "unlike" the page. On Twitter, the more active a profile is, the MORE followers it gets, because the people really do want to hear about the artist.
The last factor is that Twitter is VERY US-dominated, while Facebook is completely global. Because Carrie's fan base is primarily US-based, it is likely she will have a very LOW Facebook:Twitter ratio, possibly as low as 2, which could mean roughly 3 million followers, like you said.
Anyway, that's my take. We're at 73,700 followers right now.
I'm so proud of Carrie joining Twitter! WTG Carrie!
just checking Carrie's twitter, and its kinda embarrassing at how few followers she has. Hopefully it picks up soon.
I mean if Kellie Pickler or Scotty McCreary can get 500,000 I dont see why Carrie cant have over a million followers.lol
Carrie has to do a lot of tweets to get followers. Maybe she can do it but don't be surprised if she doesn't tweet that often and doesn't get 500,000 followers.
I think as everything picks up, her followers will pick up. It probably didn't encourage a lot of people to follow when Carrie said she was not going to say personal things on twitter. I was hoping she would pick up to 170,000 this weekend.
You'd think more if Brad's & Scotty's followers would follow Carrie. Guess most don't care for her
Carrie also need to develop a dialogue w/ some of her followers. People like to think they may get a response.
Carrie just joined twitter about a month ago lol. She will gain more and more followers over time. We can't expect her to have the same number of followers as those that have been tweeting for a long time.
As others have mentioned, she has said she isn't going to tweet lots of personal stuff. It seems that those celebs that have a ton of followers seem to be the ones that tweet a lot and really let people into their lives. I personally love that Carrie isn't going to be one of those people because she seems to really value keeping her private life private.
I just don't get the importance of how many followers this person or that person has on Twitter lol. It's not a measure of true success by any means. For example: the Idol contestant this season with the most followers got sent home this past week, Kellie Pickler has nearly 500,000 followers yet isn't selling half that many albums, and the Kardashians each have millions of followers simply because they choose to put their entire lives out there for people to see.
