Kenny's had massive success on the radio with this album, but that is nothing new. And Kenny has never won the ACM AOTY award (he did win one at the CMAs). I don't think that will change this year, as I don't think this new album has anything that makes it stand out from his other albums.
Brad's album is getting great airplay, but has no songs nominated (except for video). Also, I get the feeling that the voters like to award breakout albums, either a new breakout artist or something new from an established artist. And I don't see that in 5th Gear. So I don't think it will win.
As you say, Miranda's had the most critical acclaim. And Miranda has a Single Of The Year nod for a song on the album. In my opinion, Miranda deserves the award, but I think she needed to have more of a breakthough in sales and airplay to get it. So, I don't see Miranda winning this.
That leaves Taylor and Rodney (I can just hear everyone wincing right about now). Taylor has the sales and crossover success, but Rodney has 4 multi-week #1s at country radio. And Rodney has one of the song which he co-wrote up for Song Of The Year. But Taylor has the buzz and that may give her the edge with voters that are on the fence. So chances are that Taylor will take it (don't shoot the messanger).

thanx cary-- unfortunately, I agree with you completely---- and am worried TS will win it. But if you think about it--- taylor's album is all bubble gum country and alot of adults are not fond of either her album or her. Unlike the cmt awards-- adults will be voting for this....so even though taylor has buzz--- I just can't see adults picking her album as album of the year....god-- if that is the best country music has to offer for 2007--- the industry is in major trouble.
However---I am conflicted, clearly. I agree with your analysis--- yet my heart won't convince me that people will want this bubble gum tweeny bopper crap to win Album of the year, buzz or not.
who knows though (sigh). Last year-- carrie won due to sale, buzz and all those number 1s. Taylor could too-- but she only has one number 1, and carrie's album was MUCH more adult friendly then taylor's.
Adults love carrie- not just teens, and her music is enjoyed by seniors, 40 year olds, and teens alike-- whereas the overwhelming majority of taylor's fans are teens.
I am just not convinced that enough adults voting on the ACM panel will want a teeny bopper album with mediocre songsto win Album of the year.

I'm still holding out for Miranda to win the award. She could surprise us all
I do hope so because if it is Taylor, it is NOT fair because she has crossover and sales success due to "REMIXING"--it's like winning in a casino through cheating .
I'm so glad Carrie is opening the show!!! In my opinion, opening an award show is an honor! lol.
OMG, I am soooo glad Kenny is singing BAAM! It's one of my favorites on his new cd... And I'm glad he is singing Shiftwork with George!
I absolutely LOVE Keith's song "Tu Compania!" It's in my Top 3 on his album!
And I can't wait to hear Sugarland's new song!!
agree--- Better as a memory is one of the most beautiful and heartfelt songs kenny has done yet-because he said he wrote it about himself. You can tell the lines about being a pirate are about him-- and some of it seems directed to renee...if you ask me. It is very good.

I'm really pulling for Kenny! His new album is probably one of the best that was released this year and he had tons of success with it and with the singles he released off it!
I have a feeling Taylor will win this award. I really don't want her to. Partly because I don't think her album is all that great. She needs different types of songs on her album. Not just one type (boys and crushes). Yes, she had so much success this year, but the album has a whole, in my opinion, really isn't Album of the Year matieral.
I really enjoyed Brad's cd! I liked Rodney's but I like Brad's and Kenny's more. I don't have Miranda's... So I can't comment on her's. But I've liked all the singles she released off the album, though.
So I would be fine if either Kenny or Brad won it...

agree,...
I would MUCH prefer miranda to win, or even rodney-- if kenny or brad can't win.
I want Brad to win so badly though--because he rocks, the album is great, and because Carrie is on his cd too with Oh love. Kenny is my second choice-- since he never won it before, as cary said.
I hope people thought good and hard before they put taylor's name on their ballots--- because her album does not reflect well on country music as a whole if THIS is the best that all of country music can do--- especially with all the remixing.

agree-- kenny or brad would be great. Kenny never won before so a part of me is rooting for him, but I also really want brad to win.
I would not be upset at all if Miranda won though either-- or rodney really. Miranda got great reviews for her album so on an artistic level-- it is worthy. Commercially-- she may have a problem getting votes.
I really don't think Taylor will win AOTY.. She has had great sales but Rascal Flatts "Me and My Gang" was huge to and Brad's album still won that year.. I'm personally rooting for Brad or Kenny to win. Both albums were fantastic

Yeah, I absolutely LOVE the song! Yeah, some of it does seem like it's directed towards Renee... He said in a couple of interviews that he has actually has written part of that song to some of his ex's... Whenever I hear him say that, I always think that he wrote part of it to Renee... I don't know why. lol
I'm curious as to how an Album can win Album of the Year yet have no songs on it nominated for Song or Single of the Year? Doesn't make any sense to me, all the other albums nominated aside from Brad had a least a song nominated in one of those two catagories.

Yeah, I wouldn't really care who won it... As long as Taylor doesn't. lol. I don't have Miranda's but all the songs she has released so far, I really like. And everybody is saying that it got really good reviews. So I wouldn't mind her winning...

What album doesn't have a single in one of those two categories? I'm being lazy and I don't feel like checking! lol
Well when I think of an AOTY winner, the voting should go to the album that's had some sort of impact on country music and will be remembered 5, 10 or 20 years from now. The only album on the list of nominees that I think come close to that are either Miranda's or Taylor's. Miranda's lack of chart success will hurt her chances so that leaves Taylor. I know she's the most hated artist on this board but not even her haters can deny that she has had ton of success with the album and all the singles have been successful not only on the country charts but also in other formats and downloads. Those are some of the reasons SH won AOTY and I'm expecting the same for TS's album.
Plus I'm curious to know how apes**t some of the people on this board would get if she does win. Hehe!!

Probably because of her success, but definetely not for her vocals. Vocals aren't the only thing that matter when you get nominated or win the award. She most likely won't win it because of her lack of vocal ability. In my opinion, Carrie is a shoo-in in this category. She has the vocal ability and she has the success.

I don't agree with the chart success thing, or radio play. Miranda got given the snub for the longest time with radio, and if you're barely played on the radio...nobody would know you had a new album out. They're slowly starting to warm to her now. Took 'em long enough
