Female vocalist of the year seems to not be included on all but one of those lists, the country songs list where she sits at #8. Perhaps the voters aren't looking for artists who excell, to give awards to, maybe it's the other way around.

She's the only female in the Top 30 of Country Airplay for 2013 ("See You Again"), and one of 2 women in the Top 40 ("Two Black Cadillacs" comes in at #37, 6 spots below Miranda Lambert's "Mama's Broken Heart" at #31). That is way too telling of so many things, including Carrie's stature in the genre, her name on radio, and radio's extreme gender bias.

Be pissy all you want at the awards shows and fanbases, but radio has the final call for every artist in Country music. Clearly, Carrie's on one high pedestal.

Not releasing a 5th single from 'Blown Away' unquestionably cost her big time on the year-end charts at both BB & Mediabase; she didn't make the Mediabase top ten for most-played artist solely for that reason.

It seems to me this whole "the big three females of country" isn't really true at all is it.

Another manufactured idea that we were sold that when the numbers finally get crunched just does not show to be true.

And in truth and fairness, if all of Taylors attention and sales were counted where they belong, Carrie Underwood would have been the #1 female in country by a long shot!!!

(I try not to be bitter towards Taylor anymore, cause I know if it were Carrrie having cross-over succes and it were countng on her year-end I would be thrilled. But you can not erasethe fact that Red was made to be a pop album for a pop audience, so I just don't see it as remotely the same thing, Ok done.
My point was that Between Taylor being an international pop star and Miranda not even scratching top 10, it is amazing what a great year Carrie has had.)

And if you want to look at the way artists are "marketed in the media", look no further than Hunter Hayes.
He played hard ball with the big boys all year long and the end of numbers are solidly in the top 10 throughout!

And yet, what respect does he really get from anybody?? Virtually none!

They've been the three most-played females at the format since 2006, with Carrie in first place. Whomever's in fourth place is well behind them.

And it does seem like them three are the only one with a guaranteed future on country radio.
