I think they are still pushing hard for LBT, but now that a #1 seems like a sure thing for them, I think Capitol can afford to spend a little more attention on Lady A. Personally, I don't like Lady A's single, and I really don't think it should make #1. I think that if this single falls short it may serve as a wake-up call to them. I love that Capitol put so much time and attention into Pontoon. I hope that this signals a shift in their promo for LBT, and that they get a great deal of attention for the upcoming album era. Lady A just started work on their 4th album last week, so they should be off the scene for a bit.

Interesting that Hunter Hayes has stepped into the position that I predicted Scotty McCreery would have.
He's young, good looking, good singer, fresh...
And you can not underestimate the value of a good song.
That alone will make you. Now if you have an image to go with it, you are on your way. And truly this kid is.
I'm actually pretty happy now with him openning or Carrie.
I like hunter alot! But i think scotty is still very popular too. He jusr released too many dang ballads. Next cd he needs more upbeat singles.
and plus hunter hayes won teen choice male country artist, so hopefully carrie will be able to win back some of her teen fans.

Scotty's latest (and third) single was upbeat, yet radio didn't seem to want to play it. It's a shame because Scotty's CD is really good, and has a number of great upbeat tracks. If I were the label, I would have went with "Write Your Number on My Hand" for a summer single. It's got the beachy vibe that is becoming more popular, and it would have made a cute little video. I doubt we will see a fourth single from Scotty because he has that Christmas album coming out. They will likely send something from that to radio for the holiday season, and give us a single from the next album in late winter or spring.
I think right now country music is kind of putting Scotty in his place. He had great success right of the gate, and I think country is letting him know now that he is going to have work a little harder to get to the next level. Country music has recently allowed Blake, Jason, Luke, Chris, and Eric into the next realm of stardom lol, and they clearly aren't quite ready to let in anyone else right now. I think we will see both Scotty and Hunter have success in the future. Right now, both guys are just finding what works best for them in terms of singles and such.
I wonder how New Artist at the CMAs will play out. It should be interesting.
I forget to mention this when I posted earlier, but woohoo for Canada's chart update!! Things are moving right along! 5 songs in front of BA are on their way down, so that should clear things up nicely for BA to take the top spot soon.
Any chart gurus want to give some insight on Lauren's "Eighteen Inches"? Is it likely to make top 40 soon? I really want Lauren to get a hit with this one!
I love Scotty! Him Brad and Carrie are my 3 favorite artists. His CD was so good loved every song and my favorite was his current single and im not sure why the radios arent playing it because its a bangin song!
I've heard Hunter Hayes CD and actually is a very nice album.
He is talented.
Good update for BA.
I'm really loving this BA era.
Lead single did fantastic.
Second single is doing great.
If they go with GIG or WAW next, they will do it just as well as the first two.
Thanks Cary for the info, as always!
Off topic but I am so jealous of all the people putting out Christmas albums again this year... ie- Blake, Scotty, etc.
When will Carrie finally do one? hope next year....![]()
Well, I for one, am glad that she hasn't done one yet. She's already addressed doing one and I believe her when she says she's been thinking about it but she wants to take her time and make sure she has the right songs on there. We'll get one in due time and I'm sure it'll be OUTSTANDING and more than worth the wait.
BA (+27 spins, +0.265 million AIs) remains at #16.
On Canadian Country, BA (+18 spins, +0.091 million AIs) remains at #10.
"I feel like it's not about the accolades or the sales numbers or the, you know, awards or any of that. It's about helping people with their lives and making a difference that way."
-- Carrie Underwood (VH1 Behind The Music - Sept 2012)
I know before I type this I'm going to irritate some folks, but here goes anyway. And, it's all just my opinion anyway...but this whole Scotty McCreary thing. I just have to say that he won a highly publicized talent show that has a penchant for picking the WGWG every year. Scotty brings absolutely nothing new to the table. What he does has been done countless times before by artists that are better than he is. Josh Turner, Trace Adkins...those guys already have the low voiced singer thing wrapped up, & there are so many new guys on the scene that have talent far & above Scotty, it isn't at all surprising to me that he is struggling. Country radio seems to have picked up on it long before the adoring public did.
I had a dream last night. Carrie won "Female Vocalist of the Year" at the GRAMMYS. LOOOOOL! FAIL! xD

Have we been at 16 for a while now, or am I just imagineing it?
Seems we are stuck because there is a ways to go before she can crack top 10. But Marv and cary said some songs should be going recurrent soon-- so that will help.
Why is Jana Kramer's song still on the charts? No offense to her-- she seems nice and the song is ok-- but enough already. It feels like it has been charting for 6 months or more.

From what I'm witnessing, Scotty is adored by the H.S teens so he is the Josh Turner for teens. I fear for his career too as he is definitely commited to furthering his education (very very smart decision) and he'll have it rough trying to keep his face out there and having the college experience. Carrie was so much luckier to basically have had all that under her belt before she had to get out there and tour. I think he went the Christmas route as just didn't have the material ready for a cd and maybe he never will be distinct enough. Fan bases are so fickle. Least he has made enough to probably get his college paid for. He is such a nice kid that whatever works out, I hope he is happy.
Kenny Chesney goes recurrent tonight, while Love & Theft, Gloriana & The Band Perry will follow over the next two-to-three weeks.
It does seem like all the songs below top 5 down are in a holding pattern...the only movement seems to be at the very top. When some song goes recurrent then there's movement. Why is this happening? Has this type of situation happened before? Mediabase really is a very, very, strange chart board.
