They may be holding it to top out at country first.
I think they did that with BHC.

off topic: I like Wanted very much.
Happy for the "young'in"
Me too! I love "Wanted" and think Hunter is very talented. I keep seeing TONS of tweets from teen girls who think he is hot, that are going to the Hunter/Carrie tour. ha ha So perhaps he will convince some tween SWSRN fans to go to a Carrie show. Fine by me!![]()
BA (+65 spins, +0.642 million AIs) remains at #25.
On Canadian Country, BA (+14 spins, +0.055 million AIs) remains at #23.

Thanks Cary for another great post. I still don't understand how BA with it's consistant big spin gains and ai count (almost right out of the gate) isn't moving up the chart a little faster. Mind you I'm OK with the slower pace... I'm just somewhat baffled by the big gains = slow progress equation. It's like those 2 factors out of sync with the movement up the chart. Can anyone please explain to this ignorant chart watcher??? Maybe when the spin and AI numbers come down BA will move up the chart a little faster?
Another great update!
So far, so good.
Thanks Cary!

Well I'll it a shot:
I think that since the "big" songs ae getting so many more spins these days then they used to, the gains and aI's ae huge compared to what we used to see.
So even though BA's numbers are good and big, the other songs in the upper tiers right now are just being played the heck out of. So there is no comparison.
Assumptions are that BA will be there to. Its just a matter of time.
It is just the nature of the chart. There are some good-sized gaps between songs that take several days to cross even with strong gains. Plus the songs in front of BA are not just standing still. Most of them are not moving as fast as BA, but they are moving up too. As a point of comparison, Jason Aldean lead single, which moved back in front of BA last week, is getting gains 2 to 3 times the size of BA's gains (TALR has a gain of 905 spins for the week compared to BA's 360). And even with that, TALR is only 3 spots in front of BA at #22.

BA has continued to experience consistent large gains and is on track to hit #1 on the 9/30/12 Mediabase chart. I think long time chart guru Mirasa45A predicted that weeks ago.
Some reasons for the slow movement up the chart, IMHO, are
- (1) less songs are going recurrent. There are a number of songs that have been on the chart for a long time and are just kinda hanging around (e.g. "Glass", "Somethin' To Do With My Hands").
- (2) top 10 songs are staying on longer as they are kept in the rotation longer by many stations
- (3) unusual/uncommon promotion for some songs by being played A TON of times right out of the gate (e.g. Tim McGraw, Zac Brown Band, Jason Aldean)
Here are the spins and AI numbers since BA has appeared on the Mediabase country chart:
- debut on 7/5/12: #46, 184 spins, 1.827 million AIs
- Sunday 7/8/12: #46, 332 spins, 2.822 million AIs
- Sunday 7/15/12: #34, 963 spins, 6.468 million AIs
- Sunday 7/22/12: #31, 1530 spins, 10.421 million AIs
- Sunday 7/29/12: #28, 1883 spins, 13.245 million AIs
- today 8/1/12: #25, 2091 spins, 15.336 million AIs
- (projected) 8/5/12: #23, 2380 spins, 18.1 million AIs
- project 500 spins and 4 million AIs per week for the subsequent 8 weeks,
and then on 9/30/12: #1, 6400 spins, 50 million AIs

Wow cool.
Thanks so much. I love early predictions.
Makes for something to shoot for.
Oh wow if your prediction comes true and it hits #1 at the end of Sept., that will present an interesting choice come CMA time. I was thinking that Blown Away would probably be performed but maybe not if Blown Away has already reached #1 and a new single is out.
I still kinda feel in my bones that Carrie and Brad will open the show with CGAS!!!! So, Carrie and Brad will both get TWO performances.
i heard that BP is going organic for his next album if you want to know what i mean go to youtube and watch brad paisley in the studio. part 1-3 but mainly part 1.
I definitely hope CGAS is next....or DYTAM or WAW. Any of the three would be a nice change up after two more intense songs to kick off the album (though I love both GG and BA-- and feel they were great singles choices).
I just think they need to lighten things up for single 3.
