"I feel like it's not about the accolades or the sales numbers or the, you know, awards or any of that. It's about helping people with their lives and making a difference that way."
-- Carrie Underwood (VH1 Behind The Music - Sept 2012)
Let's go CARRIE! Let's go to NUMBER 1!!!
And show the WHOLE WORLD your MASTERPIECE!!!
Now, that Carrie is back, everybody seems to be pumped up and in shape to push Carrie for WORLD DOMINATION!!!
wow, I can't believe we are still getting crappy updates when the CD will be released next week!!!! I hate country radio!!!
Boy we have team negative instead of Team Carrie on this thread right now....
Let me try and have all the negativity BLOWN AWAY...
GOOD GIRL HAS PICKED UP 334 points in the last 2 days including 144 yesterday.... Obviously these are GOOD UPDATES... But I guess some of your glasses are always empty... LOL
The label is doing something DIFFERENT this time around...
BECAUSE THE ALBUM IS SO DEEP THEIR LETTING THE ALBUM SELL BLOWN AWAY INSTEAD OF THE LEAD SINGLE.... This is brilliant strategy... The GOOD GIRL PROMO WILL PICK UP AFTER THE ALBUM DROP...
This kind of promo only works with great albums and that's what ARISTA has here.... So props to them and more importantly props to CARRIE for delivering a MASTERPIECE....
HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!!!
This is highly depressing. I sure hope you are right russ!

AS long as we are in positive gains, I can see no reason not to remain excited.
IT has been made clear that country radio has become extremely unpredictable and there are obviously alot of suits pushing money around to get their songs to the top. If you think about it the mega-machine that has been keeping Miranda/Blake/Jason/Kelly/Lady A in that top position all through the fall and into this year is now seeing the writing on the wall and they are making every effort to keep these artists in their position for as long as possible. And I have not seen a push like this for a Carrie album since CR so it seems obvious that Sony is really gunning for Carrie to regain her position as the top artist in the genre.
So I definately feel a tug-o-war going on which has always been very unusal at country. Usually it is big boys jostling for position but making sure each has his place. Rather gentlemanly really (sucks for artists who are not under these lables but for the label heads it has been a system that has always worked).
Wll I have said it before and I'll say it again, As soon as Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift came on the scene and really changed things up, you have labels/programmers/radio-heads..and so on, really scrabbling while label heads no longer seem to be working in tandom but against eachother. That is just as it appears to me.
Out with the Good Ol' Boys, and In With The Suits!
With that, Carrie is expected to make the label good money no doubt about that.
The question becomes with all the moeny they are spending on promo, how hard are they going to commit to radio getting that song to #1.
I think radio really wants to rotate it, I really feel a tug-o-war here.
But as long as programmers schedule "Drink On It" to be played 13 times a day and GG only 5, there is nothing radio can do about it.
And I am not even sure this old system of "songs that don't move must drop" is even true anymore.
I mean those 5 songs that are in the top positions have b een there for weeks and weeks now. No Dropping!
hmm..isnt GG was added yesterday on HAC? they just add and didnt play GG?
I mean... who needs chart success when you release an album like Blown Away? Hopefully, the singles success will only be a consequence.![]()

I just talked to "The FrogMen" on Kfrog her in SoCal.
I thought Carrie was gonna be there with them today (it's next week) but I gave her some love and they seem excited about GG.
So we are doing everyting we can. And no matter what happens there is no doubt in my mind that people including those at radio, love GG.
And love Carrie Underwood!!
I like what you said. With Carrie being quiet last year, they were lulled into thinking they weren't going to have to fight to get to #1 - I hope that Carrie's label is playing the game right and not letting everyone else get to #1! I haven't followed very closely in the past Carrie's climb to the top but with this one I want her to get this one really bad! Listening to that album last night I am so excited for this era and feel that this is Carrie's best album ever and I want it to succeed in radio too!
I feel confident that Good Girl is going to get to #1. The song hasn't been on the chart that long and with the upcoming interviews that Carrie has lined up that will surely help!!!
I've said it before and I'll say it again, the song deserves the top spot and so does Carrie! Both are just that good!
very discouraging. in all these years carrie has never had a lead single be this sluggish so close to her album release date.

With regard to not watching the charts much in the past, it doesn't matter much what the past has done. Things right now are very unusual.
The difference with the past being: Carrie has stalled plenty of times as she enters the top 10. IT is not unusual for us to see this. It's becuase her songs shoot through the 40's 30's and 20's so fast that the songs in the top 10 are not done with their runs yet when she gets there. So there has been this lull many times.
The big diffenece that the gurus are noticing this time is that everything about the way the other songs are "progressing or not progressing, getting spins or not getting spins, getting spins but low AI's High AI's and low spins; it makes it all very difficult to predict. Whereas before the guru's would repeatedly tell us worryworts to settle down "things will be fine" based on predictablily.
Well, sudenly there is no predictablility. Not in GG's progress (the way it keeps rising and falling in spins and AI's) and the way other songs are doing the same thing. There is just no way to tell what is going on.
All we know for sure is the songs that are in the top 5 are getting tons of play and no one is budging.
And it seems that Blake/Miranda/Lady A/Jason A. seem always to have the songs that refuse to follow a standard pattern, so it seems "only to me" that those are the ones that are changing up the system so much.
Gosh, Even Taylor Swifts chart runs are reasonabily predictable.
But suddenly things are at a much bigger stand still then ever before for Carrie and there does not seem to be any change in the forcast.
Except to say that a song about encouraging a girl in a bar to "drink on it" and then sleep on it, can't possibly stay on top for 3 weeks, or we all know there are gonna be big problems from within and from us audience memebers.
I hope Good Girl gets to #1. It's a great song. Keep requesting it, guys.![]()
Good Girl gets to #1. I hope so...
Okay naysayers.... don't make me start baking cookies & putting you on sugar highs!!
it will... It will... IT WILL get to number 1
