Well, if she is selling at the increment of 5 K, it means it's 20 weeks away from 3 million -- this means NEXT YEAR!!
Well, technically we just passed the first half of the year so according to my calculations that's 26 weeks. So given that each year has 52 weeks that would mean that we still have 26 weeks left!!!!! LOL! So T, it looks like you were closer to being right!!!!!!!
Can some one tell me how Taylor's YBWM is suddenly getting so much spin on country radio. Is her labeling giving the extra push, I mean it's odd that she was in the 50-60 spins two weeks ago and now she is in the 400s. I am just curious, it just seems odd?

Its exploding at pop too so yea theres a huge push going on! But it takes two to tango so country radio must think that all her young fans are gonna start listening to country radio or they wouldnt bow down to Big Machine Records! For me personaly i listen to Classic rock when Carrie has no single on the radio for this very reason and im sure im not the only one! Posted via Mobile Device

That's what aggrevates me that country radio (which I don't listen to because there is no country station in Jersey) are selling out to get more audiences. The reason that YBWM is doing well in pop because first it been edit to a pop version and second all the teens are listening to it, so she is not bring many new audience to the country genre becasue she is just editing to pop. (Like her SNL performance were pop version not country). For all of you Taylor fans, I honestly don't have a problem with Taylor but am disgusted at Country radio as a whole. Good for Taylor, she is running with it and I don't blame her but what bothers me is that no one talks about her voice, all they talk about is her being a big saler. Sorry just had to let my anger out!!!
***I need some new music from Carrie, can't take it anymore!!!****
Well let see how the CMA turns out this year, I wonder if she will be nomnated for EOTY, I hope Carrie is!!!!

You are NOT the only one, Chuckerwood -- I too listen to classic rock !!
I have really giving up on country radio. There seem to be so much manipilation w/ the airplay and charts. Although I love it when Carrie goes up the chart it just seems less important after watching the charts over the last few yrs. Then of course you do hear the great song by someone that is not one of the usual suspects on the top of the charts that makes it all the way to the top. Then of course you go back and think maybe it is really about the song. This rant has nothing to do w/ Taylor. It all started w/ Garth Brooks last rocket speed no. 1 for me. I figure Taylor team is shooting for no. 1 on both the pop and country at the same time. All the country spins help her reach no. 1 on other charts.
^ me too! I hardly ever listen to country radio anymore now that Carrie has no active singles. But pop stations are filled with you know who too, so I can't listen to pop either! Sirius Radio is great, but even that is getting to be dominated by the usual suspects.
So that leaves classic rock and 80s rock... which I gladly listen to... lol
Also my car ipod is getting alot of work lately.
Funny story: I was at a red light with the windows down, blasting Michael Jackson's Dirty Diana the day after he died. In the next lane, an elderly couple was also jamming to Dirty Diana! And it was not on the radio at the time... lol

T, I have XM, I know you have Sirius, but if you want to listen to some good stuff without the usual suspects try a couple of these stations.
Deep Tracks Sirius 16.….This station goes beyond the singles & gets deep into the careers of the great classic rock stars. I guarantee you that you will hear stuff you have never heard before even by some of your favorite acts. One year beginning at midnight on Jan. 1, they played 5,002 consecutive songs, in alphabetical order. It took them 4 months & they never played the same thing twice. They had 7 different versions of the song Down By The River by 7 different artists. It was great to try & guess what would come next. For example they played Jump by Van Halen, well I figured for sure Jumpin Jack Flash by the Stones would be next, but instead they slipped in Jump Into the Fire by Nillson, then when they did get to Jumpin Jack Flash they also included the version by Leon Russel. Great, great, stuff. I listen to this station a whole bunch.
The Loft… Sirius 29
The Coffee House …Sirius 30
The Bridge…Sirius 33
All of these stations tend to go for the mellower singer/songwriter type of stuff. Older artists are on the bridge, newer artists are on the other 2 but the coffee house tends to go more acoustic & Live.

It has more than 1600+ moves in Pop before the last few days, so her label probably put the effort from pushing in Pop/Hot AC/AC to Country.

I think the label is gunning for #1 on the Hot 100.
I haven't been following the charts that closely the past few weeks, but from what I've seen it looks like the label might have slowed it a bit for the Pop/HAC airplay and downloads to catch up.

I highly doubt Taylor's gonna get that nomination, she's a good artist and she's selling better than anybody else, but CMA ain't about albums sold. With all this thing about being country or pop that we all question about Taylor, she won't be nominated, IMO. I hope we can see Carrie getting it, although this wasn't her year.

How does one label have that much power? and why Can't Carrie's label manipulate the charts that way? The whole thing feels so contrived. Here ITYS just barely made number 1 on mediabase but not billboard, and it is the countriest song Carrie ever released. And yet pop remixes not only hit number 1 on country, but they will dominate every chart simultaneously? Unbelievable.
I thought SONYBMG was much more powerful and bigger then Big Machine, a small, up and coming label... but for some reason, Big Machine seems to have more power then carrie's label does... I have never seen anyone manipulate the charts at their whim like this since Garth Brooks.
Something does not feel right with any of this. Just being honest. I am beginning to see past the curtain where the Wizard of Oz hides as a mere mortal and a fraud.

Sony BMG is now referred to as Sony Music Entertainment. Arista Nashville is owned by Sony Music Entertainment while Big Machine Records is owned by Universal Music Group, which is bigger than SME and is the largest of the record companies. Because UMG knows that Taylor will bring in lots of $$$, I wouldn't be too surprised if they do everything in their power to make sure that she has a ridiculous amount of chart success. Money talks and I think that this type of thing shouldn't be permitted. Also, there was some joint venture that happened recently: New Nashville Label

firstly, both Carrie and her label are not aiming on Hot 100 #1 but simply ciountry #1's, so she won't be heavily promoted.
secondly, Taylor sounds tonnes more pop-er and that's why she's #1 everywhere. Pop means popularized music. Pop can sell.
thirdly, country radios didn't, and doesn't, and hope they won't play her pop mixes to the top. I mean, they maybe playing them once or twice from time to time, yet they are not putting her pop mixes into high rotation. In fact, I'm not sure about YBWM, but for LS, even most pop radios were playing her 'country' version 'cuz her pop mixes after Tearsdrop sucks big time
.
fourthly, Carrie belongs to a big label, which means, a label with many other artists. And for Carrie's situation, she belongs to a label that has many big names in it. She maybe earning much but her label will not put most of their resources into Carrie, especially when they figured that what Carrie earned was already a lot. However, for Big Machine, Garth Brooks only signed to them for his greatest hits and Reba cannot sell(not to mention other artists). If Taylor stops selling, Big Machine maybe closing. What will you do if you're the boss?
fifthly, this song, YBMY, is not going to top the Hot 100. She failed with LS, remember? Yet, be prepared to see her third abum's leading single to debut #1 on the Hot 100.
sixthly, don't you feel bored complaining about Taylor's success all the time? It's not like with Taylor selling 3 million copies Carrie has to sell 3 million copies less.
As a side note, Taylor is being promoted by both Big Machine AND Universial. They even opened a special company to promote her. Universial is a bigger company than Sony if you don't know.

I don't believe we are complaining about TS. Amazed would be the word. The more I happen to hear pop music I can begin to understand TS and her career. She is no worse than many pop stars. Some pop stars can sing but most can't. They are entertainers not singers.

Great post Robin! When your a Carrie fan your standards are very high when it comes to vocal ability thats just a fact. And thats what alot of people including Taylor fans on this site dont understand. When we critigue Taylor it isnt bashing her its holding her up to the same standard as Carrie and she comes up far short! Luckily for Taylor she has millions of fans that dont hold her to the same standard as we do. And Robin is right we on this forum are amazed at her success on so many differant levels but i for one have come realize no matter what Taylor does it has no effect on Carrie so really in the final analysis it really doesnt matter!
