^^ True. That song has a special meaning to me, so I would love a special person to sing it!![]()
Yeah, I get what you're saying. I wouldn't want her to completely change the songs, but I wouldn't mind her putting a twist on some of them. However, when she does do a Christmas album I really just want her to record "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" and sing it the same way she did in that live performance. That is the best rendition of that song I've ever heard, and she needs to do it in the same exact way on her album.
I would love for "Up On the Housetop" & "Little Drummer Boy" included! Oh Holy Night, Silent Night, Away in a Manger & Jingle Bells.
I wish desperately that Carrie had a Christmas album. This is what I would like in no particular order:
O Holy Night
White Christmas
Silent Night
The First Noel
Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
Away In A Manger
The Prayer (Featuring Vince Gill) [if this is possible]
Do You Hear What I Hear
What Child Is This?
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
The Christmas Song
Mary's Boy Child
I'll Be Home For Christmas
Joy To The World
I would love a couple of original songs too.
nice selections
You did a great job and have wonderful taste!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am worried we wont get a xmas album for several years though. Clearly it wont be 2012 since the new album drops in 2012 and she will be busy on tour all year
So 2013 is possible but wont she be working on her 5th album then?
She will have to release it in a year she is not putting out a new regular album. 2011 would have been great since she had nothing going on.
I wonder if they are waiting for her career to sliw down first? Maybe when she has kids and slows down a bit? That could be a few years yet. Lol. So i hope we dont have to wait that long. I love xmas albums so i would love one soon.![]()
I was thinking about this same thing a little while ago. I too was thinking this year would have been perfect but then I actually contemplated 2012. Things are kind of quiet for her right now (crickets for us Carrie fans) and she might not have the kind of momentum the label would like to market a Christmas album this year. Hopefully 2012 will be a big year for Carrie and her momentum and hopefully public awareness might be a great environment to market a Christmas album. In fact, if she is on a roll then a lot of marketing might not even be necessary. She has 5 Christmas songs that I know of already recorded (for Carnival Ride). What would she need? 5 or 6 more standards and possibly a couple of originals. She could have possibly written a Christmas song or 2 during the writing sessions she has been having. I know she will be crazy busy in 2012 (sounds like it anyway) but possibly some of the work that goes into making a Christmas album has already been done. I'm not usually an optimist (in fact glass is half empty table for one here) but it seems possible to me.
How about adding "Feliz Navidad" with the Spanish
Lyrics included. That would be impressive. Jmo
^ I would love to see carrie sing something in Spanish. That would be really nice.
^^ You are right that she has 5 songs done already, so she could easily record 5 more standards, and then add 2 originals, and she would be all set.
I personally want her to do a Xmas duet with someone like Josh Groban or Michael Buble, as that would create interest and buzz for the album.
Yeah, a Christmas album this year would've been perfect. Especially since the next album won't come out until March, possibly April. I'm thinking 2013 could be the year. If she tours all of 2012, and possibly early 2013, she might want to take it slow the rest of 2013 so she could always record a Christmas album after this next tour. Carrie recorded the 5 Christmas songs in 2008 when she was on her Carnival Ride tour, so it is possible to record a Christmas album during a busy year.
I have a feeling when Carrie does a Christmas album that she won't reuse the tracks that were on the special edition of Carnival Ride. I would think if she were to use some of the same songs that she would re-record them so that they sound fresh, and so that fans who own the CR versions would be getting something new. Carrie doesn't strike me as someone who would cut corners on such a project. I would honestly be a bit disappointed if five of the tracks were ones we've already heard.
I would rather Carrie wait and record a Christmas album during a time when things might be a bit slower for fans, like when she takes time off to have a child. It would give fans new material plus keep Carrie's name out there, yet it wouldn't require as much promo as a regular album. I would like Carrie to wait and do a Greatest Hits album until a slower period as well. Faith Hill recorded a Christmas album and released her Greatest Hits during the years when she was taking more time off to raise her daughters. It worked to keep name out there while she was giving her time and attention to her children.
^ I can see that as making sense to save it for later. But I just really selfishly wanted a Christmas album now, and then a Greatest hits or Gospel type album when she was slowing down for her kids. lol If she waits till she has kids for a Xmas album, that could be 5 years from now.
Grown Up Christmas List!
She needs to do "Have Yourself a Merry Little Xmas" or I will be disappointed. lol She did it so beautifully on Dr. Phil and at Xmas at the Rockefeller Center.
I see your point but for some of us it wouldn't be cutting corners but rather feeding scraps (prime rib) to hungry dogs who were too ignorant to know that those five songs were available at the time and now has no access but to 2 of the 5. Martina released her first holiday album and it sold very well I think and then she re-released twice since then with more songs. I know many do not favor the re-release but I don't think Martina went into the first album thinking she would re-release but the album was popular and the demand was there. I am really desperate for Carrie Christmas music. She does it so well. Christmas music is an art in itself and Carrie obviously has the voice but has made such tasteful choices in her arrangements and vocal and phrasing choices on the songs she has done that the universe is crying out for her to do an entire album. It could be me just crying. lol
I don't think she will reuse them either, but I could see them releasing a standard Christmas album with 11 or 12 new Christmas songs that she has never recorded before, but including the 5 previously recorded songs from the special Carnival Ride disc on a "Deluxe Edition" of the album, as I suggested in my opening post. A lot of people missed out on buying that special edition of Carnival Ride. Including them as bonus tracks on a deluxe edition of her future Christmas album would be a good way of letting those fans who missed out on them the first time around get their hands on them (those who are willing to spend the extra money on the deluxe edition).
EDIT: But now that I think of it, those songs would be years old by the time her Christmas album comes out. I doubt they will include them. I think her label should just release the 5 songs as an EP on iTunes and perhaps at Target only for those who want a physical copy.

Mine would be:
- Oh Holy Night (my alltime favorite)
- Away In the Manger
- Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
- Oh Little Town of Bethlehem
- Oh Christmas Tree
- Silent Night
- Oh Come All Ye Faithful
- The First Noel
- White Christmas
- How Great Thou Art (although that is gospel and not Christmas, it would ge great to end the album with that song)
