I know it's not technically a Christmas song but it's a religious song so I'd like to have How Great Thou Art on the Christmas CD. Also, I agree Ava Maria would be great for Carrie!
I actually made a CD cover with a tracklist of some of my favorite Christmas songs.

^I agree. For many in the industry like Mark, I'm sure writing a Christmas album would seem like a detour to someone who has gone to #1 on EVERY single they put out.
However, one song that is not mentioned (I love all the others that are mentioned) that I would love is "Ding Dong, Merrily on High". I love that song when powerful soloists sing it. We Three Kings and Go Tell it On the Mountain are also good
But generally, any carol that gets Carrie to belt it out is important, perhaps even add some background choir to make it more special, kind of like what she did with the First Noel, but more active.

I'd love for Carrie to release a Christmas Album. I feel that her voice is one that is perfectly suited for Christmas music!
Here's my list, in no particular order:
Joy To The World
Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
O Holy Night
Mary Did You Know
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
Silent Night
Away In A Manger
What Child Is This
O Come All Ye Faithful
O Little Town In Bethelem
Little Drummer Boy
Who Would Imagine A King
Go Tell It On A Mountain
OK, I'm still going with the idea of having a Christmas storybook with songs that tell the story of Jesus's birth and interludes of Carrie explaining what's happening.
1.The First Noel
2.O Little Town of Bethlehem
3.Silent Night
4.Away In a Manger
5.Do You Hear What I Hear?
6.O Come All Ye Faithful
7.Little Drummer Boy
8.Joy To the World
9.Mary, Did You Know?
10.Who Would Imagine a King?
11.Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
Bonus Tracks:
12.Silver Bells
13.Baby, It's Cold Outside (Duet with Harry Connick Jr.)
I really want a Carrie Christmas CD!
1. Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
2. Joy To The World - Can you image Carrie singing this? WOW!
3. This Christmas
4. Do You Hear What I Hear?
5. What Child Is This
6. My Grown Up Christmas List
7. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
8. All I Want For Christmas Is You
9. The First Noel
10. Celebrate Love
11. It's Christmas Time Again
12. Let It Snow
13. Oh Holy Night
Bonus:
14. Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
15. Angels We Have Heard on High
16. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
I'm a bit of a Christmas freak, so here's some of the more 'obscure' Christmas songs that people might not have heard! haha.
This Christmas -
My Grown Up Christmas List -
Celebrate Love - (Carrie would sound AMAZING singing this)
I would love it if her future Christmas album had a gospel vibe to it the way Mariah Carey's first Christmas album did. Imagine Carrie singing in her powerful voice with those background gospel singers? It would sound amazing!
I actually made my own Carrie Christmas CD back in September! Using freefox
Here it is:
1. Hark the herald angels sing
2. I'll be home for christmas (w/ elvis)
3. Last christmas
4. O Holy Night
5. The First Noel
6. Have Yourself A Merry Little christmas
7. Do you hear what i hear?
8. what child is this?
9. How Great Thou Art
10. There's A Place for us
I listen to it A LOT!![]()
I agree -- although "Ave Maria" is NOT a Christmas song, it's nice if Carrie Underwood would sing this song, just like any other great singer.
Here's Kathleen Battle sang this song at the Grammy 1987 -- and she got a long standing ovation (she just stood there and sang).
When did she say that?
A lot of artists release Christmas albums early in their career. Mariah Carey's Christmas album (which is the best-selling Christmas album of all time) came right after her 3rd album, very early in her career. If Carrie puts out a Christmas album next year, or even in 2013, she will have been in the business 7-8 years by then. I think people are familiar enough with her by now, that they would be interested in buying a Christmas album of hers, don't you think? I can definitely see a Carrie Christmas album selling very well. She has the perfect voice for Christmas songs. The ones she has recorded/performed live so far have been excellent.
She said that in an interview a few years ago; she mentioned that she wanted to wait 10 years or so to release a Christmas album, like Martina did. (Sorry, I couldn't find the original source, but the interview is old). But since there were Christmas songs on hold for a Christmas album last year, I wouldn't be surprised if she was ready to record one. Yeah, I think a Christmas album from her would sell like hotcakes, and she would do very well. Her voice sounds angelic on Christmas music.
And, I would love for Carrie to record something similar to Mariah's first Christmas album; I'm not a fan of hers, but I bought it on recommendation of someone, and I love it. For some reason, I could see her recording classic songs with classic arrangements though; she seems to prefer keeping the songs to as close to the originals as possible, and the songs she has recorded are all simple and beautiful, but not big and embellished with vocal runs and fancy arrangements. Maybe it'd be different for her Christmas album, but Carrie doesn't seem to like putting new twists on old classics or making them all about the vocal tricks, and I couldn't see that changing.
I agree! I can see her sticking to classic, simple arrangements for a Christmas album, particularly on the religious songs. I personally wouldn't want her to change these songs too much. I hate when artists record Christmas songs, and make them almost unrecognizable. Many of these songs are classics that are amazing on their own. They don't need to be modernized. I also agree about the vocal runs. I don't see Carrie using a Christmas album as a way to show off what she can do in terms of vocal acrobatics. Everyone knows she is an amazing singer, so no need to go overboard proving it on a Christmas album lol. I think that excessive vocal acrobatics take away from these songs, and the meaning behind the lyrics. I hope Carrie goes for a tradtional Christmas sound on her album, and by that I mean she includes a choir and perhaps some strings. Make it sound joyous because it is a joyous season.
Faith Hill's Christmas album is great...she respected the songs, yet still made them sound fresh. My dream Carrie Christmas album would be similar to Faith's.
I would love a solo version of "I'll Be Home for Christmas"! Carrie's voice is so beautiful!
