All songs don't have to be epic in nature like a BA - just fun songs to sing to once in a while. But in all seriousness, I have friends that are not even big Carrie fans/followers and they love that song and when we are all in the car together and I force them to listen to Carrie, they always ask me to turn to that song and skip the rest, lol. And I have heard other people outside this forum comment on it also. This young actor (can't remember his name - but was someone I would not have thought would like that kind of song - tweeted one day that song was his new favorite country song. Just saying I think it will be a very well received song - just my opinion. And not all of it is because I love it but also because I have thought for a long time that Carrie should release a song like this that is just easy to sing to an overall easy going song. We have heard people say they like Taylor's songs because, like them or not, they say her songs are easy to sing to on the radio (I can't relate to them one single bit but still, I do hear that all the time). Tee, in the msg below had the right words that I was trying to find - happy lighthearted song.
    couldn't agree with you more!!!
I think the actor is Chord Overstreet from Glee...

Tough choices, but it definitely needs to be an upbeat song after BA. Once BA has peaked, we should be getting confirmation. Seems like at one time Carrie hinted that she would like to have DYTAM as the next single. I love TBC, but it is not the time. GIG is another that I am crazy about. Glad I am not the one forced to maje the choice.

Agree. The only two choices that make sense are this one or Cupid. And since Cupid is at the back of the album, it is unlikely to be the third single. They typically pick songs toward the beginning of the CD (ie, track 3, 4, or 5).

The more i think about it, the more DYTM makes sense.

My partner who only loves whatever he loves (it;s very hard to pin point his interests, which makes it kind of fun), loved this song immediately and played it constantly. He knows Carrie, and really respects her. But he, as more of a pop music fan, thinks she sings lots of heavy intense material, which he really likes, but thought this was a side of her that he did not even know she posessed.
Yes, he compared int to TS, but interestingly, he compared it in a way that made alot of sense.
A great song, that is just a lot of fun to "SING ALONG TO".
This becomes increasingly important to define the difference between Carrie and Taylor.
GG was a great song. But have you ever really tried to sing along???? Its virtually impossible.
    It's terribly difficult to sing.
WANEGBT is "terribly easy" to sing (wink)!
I think it is important for Carrie to start creating an image with her "singels" that show a funner side.
If you own her albums, you know it is there.
But for most folks (and clearly critics and voters), they have no idea that Carrie even sings this type of song.
    I just think its time.
And for the record: (and I am so sorry to alienate anyone), but he hates OWT with a passion.
He thinks the whole island concept is completely fabricated and does not sit with her at all.
    Just sayin'
(that is all coming from someone who is not nearly as narrow minded as I am)

I do wish it was a love song... but oh well, you can hardly tell it's about an ex-boyfriend...
I have always thought it was about an ex-boyfriend (or first love). Lyrics include, "I met a boy a lot like you, funny how we used to sing it too. But he was always just a little off key, so much different than you and me" so obviously the character had to move on but never found anyone as good as their first. For that reason, I don't think DYTAM is an entirely "happy" song lol but still AMAZING and I hope it is single #3!

I still believe (and will continue to believe so 'till the day I die) that they DID have a 5th single prepared for Play On, but didn't release one once Remind Me started getting in the works. It just always kindda frazzled me when Carrie said they wanted to go deep (single wise) with Play On but then stopped at 4.

As reffering to DYTAM, I dont think its neither sad nor happy. its about remembering someone who once did make you happy, and you just wanna know if they still think about you. I dont know, to me to "tone" of the song isnt of just happy or sad, more about reflecting. Also, nowhere in the song does it say whether the narrator is completely miserable or completely happy now (as opposed to Wine After Whiskey or Good In Goodbye)

I've always loved DYTAM ever since album release, so I wouldn't be at all disappointed if it is the next song. It sounds a little bit like what's been on the radio recently though. I was playing the album in the car one day and DYTAM came on and the first thing my friend with me said was that the songs sounded Lady A-ish. I don't know if that makes sense, but it does kinda have the same style to it.

I still feel that the song is happy as she is looking back on that boy with fond happy memories.... And in the video i created in my head-- he comes back to her at the very end of the song... With a dozen roses and a suitcase. He flew into town to surprise her. . They get back together- Happy ending...

I would never have thought of DYTAM as primarily a happy song. I saw it as a "reminiscing" song - an affirmation that our first love memories are precious - but we can never go back to that time and quite recapture them. (I compared it thematically to Matraca Berg's classic "Strawberry Wine")

same here. I almost see it as a finding peace song. You can finally look back and feel joy from that relationship with no regrets.

I think it can be easily mistaken as a happy song because it makes you feel happy. DYTAM and AAG are literally the only two songs I've ever heard that put a smile on my face every single time I listen to them, even when I'm at my lowest of lows.

Well, I've always known it wasn't supposed to be happy, but the way Carrie sings the chorus puts a smile straight to your face. I don't understand how it wouldn't. x)

agree. I just want a happy ending in my mind, as I love the song so much. ha ha

But it is more of a reminiscing song. Obviously she is no longer with that boy, but no one else seems to measure up. So it is wistful in some ways, looking back on a lost love.

But it is interesting that you bring up Strawberry Wine. That is one of my favorite country songs, and I am wondering if that is why I love DYTAM so much? Something about the simple yet powerful lyrics of both songs really appeals to me.

Both songs have a light feel to them, remembering a happy time with fondness.
