Joshua is incredible my favorite from the guys. gosh. Those vocals are insane. LOVE his Jar Of Hearts version even more than original!
oh and i love Reed. He is very unique!
Adam remind me of Danny Gokey
and Deandre remind me of Justin Guarini
I dont think its smart to sing the song he chose after Archuleta sang it- his version was amazing his season. Imho.
Joshua is incredible, the best out if the guys in my opinion.
I feel like he has some potential. He needs to work on his confidence.
But overall i think the girls are in the lead this year with talent. This is the first year that i feel that they are not all very young GOOD talent. seems the older ones have the power. if that makes any sense. lol.

I don't even want to imagine what the Dial Idol totals are.
Last night frustated me more than anything.
YEs, the judges praise was extreme. It may be because of the popularity of "The Voice". (The Voice; has a premise where the judges compliment the singer until they are choosen. So you have a great deal of praise slathered on to mediocre singers early on).
The Big Stage was a problem as well. First there is no growth-arch. They are suddenly super stars jumping on top of Grand Pianos. Half of that group had no idea how to use a stage that big and it was painful to watch. Eben specifically but also the "hair whipper" and I'm sorry to admit Heejun.
Stand outs, (sorry I don't know eveyones names yet) Phillips/Jeremiah/Joshua(but the screaming is going to wear thin quickly) The latino kid (my personal fav. of the night). He did exactly what you should do the first night out.
Reed has issues that will have to be addressed. HE is still too cartoonish.
Eben had a terrible song choice (I think that was the producers fault, was it not?)
Deandre has no control of his voice at all. And acts way too overconfident. We can see the fear!!
Chase was completely lost in the shuffle (poor song choice)
Creighton, I have never liked so I can't judge.
Overall, it was a mess and I don't thik it was the singers faults. They are good singers in their won ways. But the show gets in the way.
The producers should not be choosing their songs. They should not be on this big a stage so early. They should no be using so much "sight&Sound" engineering in the background.
And some are completely oversinging and it's way too early in the show for that.
Example: The only time I hever heard Carrie "oversing" was at the finale during "Angels Brought Me Here" and even then she was exausted and singing for her life!
These guys are actually showing weakness in trying too hard.
Best: Jeremiah (hate to admit it cause I did not want him back) and Latino Kid (perfect songchoice).
Worst: Deandre/Eben/Colton All A complete MEss

Do you really think they will let Dial Idol make the choices??
Yikes.
(I guess maybe there is a time for insider manipulation).

Chelsea is going to sing a Carrie song tonight, hum I wonder what the over/under will be on the first person on here to say "Carrie sings is better" will be. lol
Hum, I hope that Carrie would sing it better than someone who is on AI.
American Idol 11

I was just reading some of the song spoilers. They don't say which song so it will be interesting to see which Carrie song she will be singing. Also, I just saw that they are going to have two girls sing the same Adele song. I do hope they do a better job than the guy last night on Set Fire To The Rain. I also hope the judges start being a little more critical. I really was not impressed last night with their comments. They were way too nice last night. I actually only liked two of the performances last night.

The youngsters showed more poise tonight than the older contestants did.
Skylar, Jessica, Shannon and Hollie should all go through.
There are way too many country girls on the show this year. lol And no African American women--- not a single one. How odd.
I like Skylar. She has a good voice....very similar style to Miranda Lambert. lol she even SOUNDS like Miranda when she talks, and has her body type. lol
Hollie was good too.
I felt bad for the girl who sang Cowboy Casanova as she clearly was a sweet girl and she wasn't THAT bad, but she just kind of fell flat. Better to never cover a Carrie song at all.
Baylee Brown seems nice but there is something odd when people go on Idol twice. She was a bit flat tonight.
Skylar is adorable. Tee youre right- Miranda all the way. Good thing with her is too, she isnt trying to be a Carrie/Kellie/Miranda. She is a different country feel that Idol has not introduced yet, at least IMO.
The girl how did Cowboy Casanova fell flat. She didnt bring the energy that was needed.
Hollie did really well. But i have always hated that song by Christina.
this is as far as i have seen, i will post more about the other girls in a bit.
loved Shannon. She has real potential.
Noooooo Please..... now wonder this shows ratings are dropping like lead. They have to change the voting rules!
Unfortunately the country girls will cancel themselves out. I think Baylee just couldn't handle the pressure and choked. But she handled the criticism and the backstage conversation with class. Chelsea ran into the same problem as Eben. You shouldn't take on a real vocalists' song unless you can hit it out of the park.
Every time I see Skylar I think of Miranda. She's like a mini-Miranda lol. But she was a bit spazzy on stage tonight but I guess I'm in the minority on that one. I think it took away from her performance. And her accent is so thick I couldn't understand what she was singing in the first half of the song.
I'm with you on Hollie, I'm really pulling for her. Too bad I can't vote.
oh! Jen is also amazing.

Generally speaking the girls were alot better for me than the guys.
I still don't know all their names but let me try:
Cowboy Cassanova ate that girl up. Not smart to use a song that will show your weaknesses.
I'm feelin' Good was good cause she is just soo different.
Reflection was really really good. She must grow as a "performer" but the voice is already there. Easily one of my fav's.
Sanchez stole the night as the "whole package". But I am concerned that newbies don't know how to hold back and they strain their voices. It's really bad for a young ladies voice to do that. If it's too bad there can be bleeding and irreplaceable damage. Please Please be careful and trust your voice. Don't distroy what God made.
Candles.... I really liked cause it proved that you can pick a "personal" song and if you connect so will your audience. Dangerous move, but it worked beautifully. (christian artist by the way).
The final one was really good but again, when I hear all that raspyness in a 28 yr old's voice, I know that they have ruined their voice for life. And it's just sad to me. IF you listen to Adele, her voice is not raspy (gutsy yes, but not raspy) cause she has a huge voice capable of big singing. Most women do not. When she hit her last not it was painfully obvious that she was either exausted or her voice is just trashed from years of singing bigger than she should.
(I did like Mini-Miranda but I put it in parenthasis cause I am not sure what to make of her. But I did like her lastnight)!
Worst: Baylee. this girl frustrates me to no end. Clearly she does not belong there. HEr voice is not even close to the level of any of these others.
When someone like this is on, I can't help thinking of the thousands of people who sing 100 times better and they chose her. Why?
Not a single black women but you chose her? You can't tell me that no black women came and blew the roof off the joint. I don't believe that.
So she is my thorn in the flesh this season. Her and Deandre.
BTW, I did notice that last night at the end when asked about the guys, each of the judges mentioned Deandre as a favorite even though he was clearly one of the weakest voicalists.
This tells me that JB is on to something with this Dial Idol thing. And they are preparing the audience for some upsetting results.

Here is who I would put in the Top 13 based off from what I seen in Hollywood through the last two nights.
Girls - Elise, Hollie, Jessica, Shannon & Skyler
Guys - Aaron, Colton, Creighton, Joshua & P2
Wildcard - Erika, Heejun & Jen
As for the whole there not being any black girls in the Top 24, there isn't any because none of them deserved to be there, if the judges which include two minority judges though anyone if they are white, black, latino, gay/straight or whatever else someone wants to use deserved to be there they would.
I like Jessica Sanchez but unfortunately she is from San Diego (West Coast) --West Coast audience do not vote![]()
I liked Hollie a lot too and am rooting for her.
The mini Miranda I thought was really awful. It was like she was doing a parody of what a country singer is.Like something you'd see on SNL.
The rest of the women were just meh.Baylee was ,I'm sorry, awful.I was surprised how bad.
The best of the rest was Jessica but I didn't really care for the song.
So yeah I'm on Team Hollie![]()

Remind me which one Hollie is again?
Here are my thoughts on both last night and Tuesday night:
The boys (in no particular order):
Reed - I didn't love his performance, but I didn't hate it. I still think he has more to show us. I don't know that his performance was enough to get people to vote though.
Eben - The song was too much for him. He sang the right notes, but there was no emotional connection. Lauren had the same issue on several songs last year. It's their age. I think the teen girl vote may have been enough to keep Eben around.
Phillip - I enjoyed his performance. He gave his own little twist on the song without rendering it unrecognizable. He played it a bit safe, but too many risks at this point can be bad anyway. He was one of my standouts for the guys.
Heejun - His singing is dull as dishwater to me which is unfortunate because he seems like a nice and funny guy. Perhaps his personality will be enough to keep him safe.
Colton - I don't get all the hype about this guy. He is good, but not great for me.
Deandre - I kind of like his voice, but I don't think he knows how to use it just yet. He stayed in his falsetto too much. He has some range, and he needs to learn to use it better to make the performances more interesting.
Joshua - I don't get the hype about him either. I didn't enjoy his performance at all. I do appreciate his talent though. It's interesting how some are calling him "Mantasia" because I couldn't stand Fantasia's style of singing either lol.
Creighton - He played it safe, and boring. He seems like an interesting guy, and he should have showed that in his performance.
Aaron - I like his vibe. He brings that cool R&B swagger to the show.
Jeremy - This kid has a good, solid voice, and he seems like such a sweetie. I liked his performance.
Chase - I barely even remember his performance lol. He picked the wrong song though.
Adam - His personality is going to get on my nerves if he sticks around lol. Anyway, his performance wasn't enough for me. He is turning out to be a bit of a one trick pony.
Jermaine - I love that he was brought back. I think I'm one of the few that was pulling for his return over the other three. He did a really good job. One of my favorites! I'm a sucker for a great baritone though.
The girls (in no particular order):
Chelsea - She picked the wrong song. CC was too big for her. She has a nice voice, but she clearly doesn't know how to use it to her benefit.
Baylie - I was disappointed with her. She couldn't hold it together at all. The worst performance of both nights, IMO.
Skylar - I like this little spitfire lol! She feels the music from her head to her feet. She does need to work on enunciation though because I couldn't understand some of her lyrics. She's different from any country singer the show has ever had. A standout for me!
Jessica - I don't get the hype for her. She is good, especially for her age, but there are better entertainers and singers in the competition, IMO. She did well last night, but I don't get why she got the judges' standing 'O' when others didn't.
Elise - I wasn't sure I was going to like her, but I do! She has an interesting tone, and she understands how her voice works within a song. Great emotion, too.
Hollie - I love her! She sang really well, and she seems like a great girl. I hope she does well!
Hallie - I don't know what to think of her lol. I don't love her, but I don't dislike her either. Her performance was vocally good, but not terribly interesting.
Erika - She did really well! One of my standouts. Many female contestants have attempted a Heart song at this stage in the competition, and haven't pulled it off. Erika pulled it off though! So good!
Brielle - I liked her performance, but I didn't love it. The start was shaking for me. She is a good entertainer.
Jen - I wanted her to be better. The song was wrong for her.
Shannon - The girl has soul lol. She sings from her gut, and I like it! I liked her song choice, too.
Haley - I agree with Randy...it was a bit of a nightmare. She tried to do too much with the song.
Sorry for the long post lol. I wanted to be fair, and comment on everyone lol.

Hollie is the one that sang Christina A. song Reflections I think. I liked her, Erika, Jessica, and the last girl. Skylar reminds me more of Reba than Miranda. I thought she was entertaining but I don't think she is that strong of a vocalist but I do like her. I will say I like the girls last night better than the guys.
I kind of wish they went back to how they used to do the top 24 where you got to see them sing a little bit longer before the top 12 was chosen. I think back then it was 2 girls and 2 guys going home each week until the top 12. I just feel like the contestants need to be able to show us a little more before we get to the top 12.
