I wonder why there are no African American Females this year?? How odd.

I was so worried that Elise or Erika were going home tonight when Heejun didn't make the bottom 3. It's too bad that Shannon didn't have a chance to grow on the show but I agree with America's choice this week. For me, with the exception of Heejun, it's the most talented group from top to bottom this year and I'm stoked for the Idol tour.

I definitely think the right person went home this week. To be honest though, I really questioned why/how Shannon even made it this far. I think the girl has a nice voice, but nothing that's unique or different IMO, especially when compared to the other girls this season.
I agree!!! EARLY TREND from DIALIDOL, DialIdol.com - Measuring the busy signal. , shows that "Phillip Phillips" is leading, considering the last two performances and the fact that Joshua got the STANDING OVATION. Hollie, Jessica and Skylar NEEDS TO WORK EXTRA HARD for their performances TO GET MORE VOTES and beat "PHILLIP AND JOSHUA". California votes is still divided between Jessica who is from San Diego and the other guy from San Jose, DeAndre. "Phillip, Joshua and Hollie" got the BLOCK VOTING SOUTHERN STATES because they are from Southern United States. Jessica got the votes of the Hispanic-Filipino American community because she is half Mexican American and half Filipino American. As I said, in business, "POPULARITY", is a TREASURE hard-won on the music battlefields through "DEVELOPMENT AND MARKETING". But, their POPULARITY owe their status in part in AGGRESSIVE IMAGE TRANSFORMATION and AGGRESSIVE CAMPAIGNING FROM THEIR "BASE", "REGION or BLOCK". It is interesting to see who will get the MAJORITY OF THE CASUAL VOTES to beat "PHILLIP AND JOSHUA" - to be the MOST "BUZZWORTHY"!!!
Because year after year we got screamer upon screamer, and that was the option the judges were afforded this year yet again. I'd wager money that you could be put into a darkened room with headphones & songs from the girls from seasons passed could be played & you wouldn't be able to tell who was singing what.
It looks as though yet again, the power voting tween girls are going to put through the "cute" boys at the expense of the talented girls. HeeJun & DeAndre should have been in that bottom 3 & 1 of those 2 should have gone home.

Billy Joel? That will be interesting.
Haley's single is pretty good, I don't know if she is going to be able to radio play or not but she the girl can sing.

I actually think Elise and Erika suffered from being the "old" girls. Jessica and Hollie seem to have much bigger fanbase as the young audience could connect with them more.
Maybe I'm in denial, but I really can see a girl winning this year.
I think that no matter what happens during the season (order of elimination), America usually gets it right in the end (the Top 2 and/or the winner)... even for season 9... :/

The whole "girls never get the support they deserve" and the "white guy with the guitar will always win" issues with Idol have pretty much become self-fulfilling prophecies at this point. America has the choice to vote for the girls, and they don't vote enough. Simple as that. If you like the female contestants, vote all you can. At this point, I think a lot of Idol fans just sit back, let the teen girls (supposedly) vote for the cute boy, then complain about it without taking any action. I knew the minute the bottom three was announced as all girls last night that many Idol watchers would be back to crying foul over the voting.
I honestly don't think the bottom three last week would have been all women. I think Jeremy would have went home regardless. I think Shannon also deserved to go this week. She wasn't going to win anyway, and clearly wasn't connecting to an audience. I really feel like Elise was in the bottom yet again because of what most viewers perceive as a bad attitude...just look at her behavior last night: she walked away without even so much as a pat on the back to Skylar. She isn't doing herself any favors. Erika isn't connecting with an audience either. Heejun deserved to take either Elise or Erika's place in the bottom last night, but he is entertaining when he isn't singing which means people will keep him around for a few more weeks just to see what he will do.
It's unfortunate that more people won't pick up the phone and vote for the female contestants. The problem, IMO, isn't with those that vote for the men, but those that don't bother to vote for the women. There has been so much blame hurled at the teen girls voting for the show, yet realistically those that don't vote are essentially causing the problem.
If you like one of the female Idols, please pick up the phone on performance night. That's the only thing that will ever change the way things happen on Idol.

I totally agree with you on Elise, she isn't doing herself any favors with the way she is acting.
One problem that the females have is that a lot of the females who watch the show young or old don't vote for the female contestants for the most part, after going to the Idol concert last year Scotty's fan base was far more than just the young teenage girls and his album sales have shown that.
The younger female fan base voting does help but that isn't the only thing that is causing the run of male winners, at some point this season Hollie & Jessica are going to cancel each other out and I would be really surprised if they both got to the finale.
I think that one of them could but I don't see both of them beating out P2 to get into the finale.
I definitely agree that Elise should have been gone already. She is not that great a singer and she has a bad attitude. I liked Shannon better actually as at least she was nice.
Why is it so hard for the females to win anymore? Just look at how much better Kat Mcphee is then Taylor Hicks. It is unreal.
Phil Phillips is probably the front runner due to his white guy with guitar thing-- lol. And he is actually really good.
But I am rooting for Joshua for the guys, and either Jessica/Holly for the girls.
^ Agree. Hollie didn't come close to matching Joshua this week.
I'm very glad to see Idol's rating come down. It might actually convince them to do two things that I've been waiting for them to do for years. One, is update their song list so that it's songs that we hear on the radio. Secondly, they really need to change the voting system.
