I can honestly say that Pia is going to run into an image problem and Lauren will sail right past that dilemma!
She is already so aware of what she likes and who she wants to be.
Pia seems to have spent alot of time perfecting her craft and still doesn't know what to do with it.

I agree. The biggest problem many have with Pia is her personality (or rather, lack of).

She is sometimes too polished that it didn't seem natural (IMO). She needs to let loose a bit and show her personality more... both onstage and offstage.

I think that Jimmy Iovine, his own people and people that he brings in will be a huge help for all the contestants with working on their image.

i completely agree with this. it'll be interesting in general so see how this season plays out, and who really steps up. one major thing lauren and carrie have in common (at this point in their careers) is the knowing EXACTLY what you wanna do.

I just finished watching all the girls videos and Lauren is actually my second favorite female singer this season based on their last performances (I haven't been able to watch the show that much because of school). She has some much energy, a rocker personality with a country heart. I actually that Karen Rodriguez is a better singer than Pia. I thought her performance of Hero was the best Mariah Carey cover I've ever heard and it was pitch perfect.

Well, considering this is only the first week, she has plenty of time to show us. I just don't think she has had that much screen time to even show us her personality. I love that she's a pro up on stage. I think her being polished will help her in the competition actually, and it's totally natural. imo

Btw, she reminds me alot of Allison Iraheta (not in style or voice) but in how she was "treated" on Idol. Allison's personality was naturally awkward, which was part of her charm. With Pia, I feel the same way, well not that she's awkward, just that she seems introverted, and there's nothing wrong with that. Many singers out there are like her. She's just quiet, imo.

There's nothing wrong with that, don't get me wrong. Pia is one of my faves. Just that when Carrie was shy, she was still able to be adorable at the same time lol. From the clips and time onstage so far, I haven't been able to see or know anything about Pia yet, compared to like... the guys' humorous clips, for example. Or like Lauren A. Or even Lauren T. Allison actually showed a lot of personality (for me), I liked her, just too bad America didn't like her enough (Simon especially lol)

I think I'm just saying it might hurt her since reality TV is about personality as well. And Idol audience seem to love contestants with some "rawness" in their performance and more approachable personalities.

just from her favorite quote alone, i could see her connecting to carrie because of carrie's religious views and also, she clearly wants to have a similar career to carrie's. i think she definitely wants to be a country singer

I like her-- and she is good. I think what is bugging me a bit is the over-pimping so early in the game. But I think she and Thia are the 2 best girls. That little 15 year old Thia is incredible too.
