'IDOL' H'WOOD ROUND-UP
OSMOND NEPHEW, BROTHER OF JASON CASTRO AND FIRST HUSBAND-AND-WIFE TEAM MAKE IT TO LA
By MICHAEL STARR
Who will be the next David Cook?
Yes--he's one of those Osmonds.
David Osmond, Donny and Marie's nephew, is among the "American Idol" wannabes who've made it to LA for a shot at on-air stardom, according to mjsbigblog.com, which covers all-things-"Idol."
Osmond, the son of Alan Osmond--one of the original Osmond Family singers and sib to Donny and Marie--is the lead singer for the "Osmond Second Generation" group.
He's also battled West Nile Virus, which left him with a form of muscular dystrophy, according to the blog.
But Osmond isn't the only familiar name among the Hollywood contestants.
There's also Michael Castro, the younger brother of former "Idol" contestant Jason Castro, and Anna Kaelin--the daughter of David Archuleta's vocal coach, Dean Kaelin, who was the Archuleta family's spokesman last season.
And, among the more interesting contestants is Otto Malone--wounded in Afghanistan--and Scott Douglas MacIntyre, who's "blind and plays several instruments," according to mjsbigblog.
There's also husband-and-wife team Tom and Jennifer Korbee--a first for "Idol."
An "Idol" spokeswoman said the show never comments on prospective contestants.
"Idol" kicks off its eighth season on Tuesday, Jan. 13 with a two-hour premiere.
