'American Idol' contestants are not the only forgetful singers

This week, "American Idol" hopeful Jason Castro became at least the third contestant this season to flub lyrics to a song. The Dreadlocked One performed the Bob Dylan classic "Mr. Tambourine Man," and forgot the words to the second verse Tuesday, May 6.

David Archuleta and Brooke White suffered from similar memory lapses earlier this season.

This got us thinking about the artists most famous for forgetting the words to the songs. Here's a quick list.

Bono: Famous for butchering the lyrics to his own songs, as well as other people's tunes. Most notoriously, he improvised his own lyrics to Bob Dylan's "Blowin' in the Wind."

Elvis Presley: Often flubbed the lines to "Are You Lonesome Tonight," "Heartbreak Hotel," "Johnny B. Goode" and others, though people say he often pretended to forget to entertain the crowd.

Frank Sinatra: Commonly used a TelePrompTer in his later years to remember the words. Ozzy Osbourne, Elton John and Bernard Sumner of New Order also reportedly used TelePrompTers.

Simon Le Bon: Duran Duran's lead singer forgot the words to the classic song "Hungry Like the Wolf" at a show in Auckland, New Zealand, during the group's 2008 world tour.

Norah Jones: Forgot the words to her 2003 hit, "Don't Know Why" at a 2006 charity show in New York. Jones stumbled a bit, then apologized and started up again, leaving two lines out.
