Ticket Sales Lower Than Expected? (In Wichita Falls)
According to this article, Carrie has only sold 3,800 out of a goal of 4,500, and total sellout of 6,000. Hopefully Carrie can sell some more before the concert tomorrow. Here is the article~
"When headline artists sign on to perform in Wichita Falls, it doesn't always mean there will be a lot of heads in line. Three- time Grammy award-winner Carrie Underwood takes the stage at the Kay Yeager Coliseum tomorrow night. Ticket sales are not as good as MPEC’s executive director had hoped. He says so far, Wichita Falls has sold about 38 hundred tickets – which is short of his goal of 45 hundred – and way short of a sellout of six thousand. In the world of country music, Carrie Underwood seems to have become that "beautiful, wonderful, perfect all-American girl" she sings about in her hit single. Last month, fans lined up at MPEC to buy tickets. “I just think she’s an awful sweet young lady, and we just kinda fell in love with her, you know, when she was on that American Idol,” said one fan. But overall, concert sales in Wichita Falls are lagging behind other cities. It's a trend MPEC’s executive director has seen before. “It’s a very strong market,” said Bob Sullivan. “The economy is good, people have a lot of interest in music … but for one reason or another, it’s difficult to get people to come out to concert.” For the Carrie Underwood concert, 6,000 seats will be available. But so far, there are plenty of open seats waiting to be sold. Bob Sullivan says people should take advantage of top artists performing right in our backyard. “If you go down to Dallas, the ticket price may be a little bit higher,” Sullivan said. “Then you’ve got to pay for the gas, you’ve got to pay for parking, you’ve got to pay for the high prices of food and beverage – we're a bargain." Krysti Forester and Megan Fox took advantage of that bargain and camped out at MPEC for tonight’s rock concert. “I think it’s cool that Wichita Falls actually does stuff like this,” Forester said. And they understand that the better the ticket sales – the more artists that Wichita Falls will be able to attract. “Come buy the tickets so we can get better people!” Fox said, with a laugh. You can still order tickets to see Carrie Underwood by calling 716-5555."
