Carrie should be able to pass Garth Brooks, and the Eagles in the next few weeks, Josh Grobans xmas album will fall as soon as the holiday season is over, and Celine Dion and Now 26 along with Jay Z and Led Zeppelin, should slow down soon too, This should put Carrie in the top 3 or 2 for a while...and then we just have to wait for any new big releases...but at this point, if all goes well with CR, we should end in the top 3.
I was watching 60 minutes tonight waiting for The Amazing Race and they had an interview with the Eagles. I guess they released a double album, meaning that each CD sale counted as double.
It's still impressive that they sold that much when it was excusively sold at one store. I still don't think they should get x2 sales but whatever. It just makes you think how big they would of been had it been released in more places. I don't see why they wouldn't since they were clearly very successful in the past.
The Eagles are gazillionaires...they don't need to sell more albums. Besides, when you do an exclusive like that you can be your own label and get a much larger share of the profits from each CD sold because you eliminate the "middlemen" of the Nashville promotion/distribution machine. The only negotiations are with the retailer. Artists as well known as The Eagles, Garth Brooks, and Toby Keith are their own promotion and are connected enough that they don't need a label's distribution.
Bo Bice did this too since, with minimal sales, with a big label he would only end up making a little money per CD, just enough to pay back the investment.

The sales number is only doubled for the purpose of Gold and Platinum certifications. The sale of a double CD only counts as one sale in the Soundscan numbers.
though the eagles album is a double album it only counts as a single cause it's less than 100 Minutes Long even in it's deluxe format which was just released last tuesday the 20th If they'd added another 2.50 second song It would count as a double disc for RIAA Certifications and carnival ride could go below 80k this week but that would still put it over 1,000,000 sold and close to 2 million shipped so double platinum certification

Well I bet a lot of the Christmas cds will fall after Christmas and Carrie will hopefully level off and have consistent sales with a new upbeat single out. I just hope the Eagles stop selling so dang well!!!
