Carrie’s Chart Update (7/3/08): CR is #3 Country Album; SH At 137 Wks On BB200-Maybe

For a 2nd week, Carnival Ride holds up well on the charts despite a sales loss. Carnival Ride climbed 2 spot to #3 on the Top Country Albums chart and drops 1 spot on the Billboard 200 to #34. Carnival Ride’s sales were down 8% to 14.1K this week and total sales are now at 2.204 million. Surprisingly, Some Hearts remains on the Billboard 200 and Top Country Albums chart this week despite dropping out of the top 100 on the Billboard 200. Whether it is a mistake or an unknown criterion, Some Hearts is now at 137 weeks on the Billboard 200. Some Hearts moved up 2 spots to #19 on the Top Country Albums chart, but dropped 8 spots to #105 on the Billboard 200. Some Hearts’ sales were essentially unchanged at 7.0K and total sales are at 6.472 million.

Last Name continues to drop on the charts. Last Name dropped 3 spots to #7 on the Hot Country Songs chart. Last Name’s sales slipped 11% to 29.0K with total sales at 338.0K.

I'd be surprised if it was a mistake. You'd think Billboard would have some kind of computer program that automatically makes the data go recurrent once it falls below the cutoff number (but perhaps they don't). My guess it's some unknown criteria. But I guess we'll find out for sure next week.

I know people over on Pulse were saying it's because Carrie has an active song on the charts from the album ,whichi is BHC on some recurrent charts. The problem is we've not sure if this counts as 'active'. Anyway, someone emailed Billboard, so we should find out why soon. Thanks for the update Cary.
