Anyone is welcome to join! Whether you've been playing for years, hours, or can't even play but you'd like to learn how, it doesn't matter to me. Just post a short message telling a little about yourself, how long you've been playing, some of the songs you know how to play, you favorite guitarists (famous or just people you know), and anything else you'd like to say. You can also post questions or your tips for playing.

I took lessons a few years ago, but I had to quit going, so I never really played anymore. I just set down yesterday with my guitar and went website surfing to find online lessons. I finally found one that's at my level of playing. It shows you how to play a few chords and then you learn how to play a song with those chords. Right now, I'm learning how to play Margaritaville! My inspiration for playing is nobody famous, just friends and friends of friends. My boyfriends brother is in a band and he plays rhythm. They also have another guitarists who mostly plays solos. Both of them are unbelieveable. I also ran across this girl on myspace. She's actually a friend of the second guy I talked about. She's younger than me, but she's incredible! She plays a lot of metal and she's my idol! Haha

I LOVE guitar. It's my second favorite instrument. lol. I've been playing for about 6 years now. I can play every Taylor Swift song that exists, a bunch of Rascal Flatts songs and a bunch of other random stuff. haha. Some of my fave [famous] guitarists are Joe Don Rooney and Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts. Jay inspired me to take up bass guitar, too. Also Taylor Swift, just because she's awesome. haha =]

Absolute Beginner Part 1: Chords - Guitar Noise

Caitlyn, do you read tabs? Just wondering b/c I played clarinet and piano for a long time so I know how to read notes, but when I play guitar it's a LOT easier for me to read tabs. When I was taking lessons, my teacher tried to tell me not to read tabs. She called it a cheat sheet... I dunno why. If it makes it easier to play, what does it hurt?

And how long do your fingers usually hurt when you first start playing? A few days, maybe a week? I hope it's not long b/c mine hurt really bad. I've been playing a lot here lately. It's hurting just to type this lol
