My Carrie Encounter

Last night I attended Carrie’s show in Toledo, OH at the Seagate Convention Center…

…and it was awesome! I went with my two friends and we drove there from Windsor, ON. When we got there we parked in the parking garage and went up the elevator which brought us right into the convention center. We headed straight to the washroom, and on our way we saw the sign outside the room where the meet and greets were to be held. I was disappointed that I didn’t get one. I’d love to meet Carrie, but now that she has added so many dates in the fall, hopefully I can get another chance to meet her!

After we came out of the washroom we were standing outside a set of doors trying to decide where we should go to eat since we don’t know the city. All of a sudden, I hear the band start playing and I realised they were doing a sound check. I didn’t hear Carrie, it was just the band. It still got me excited for the show so we stood there listening. In a few minutes Carrie started singing!! It was definitely the sound check. I was dying to get in the doors and go watch her, but no such luck. We did, however, get to hear her sing a few songs “Get Out of This Town” and “I Know You Won’t”, so that was cool, and we got a glimpse of her on stage when some people who worked there came through the doors. That was exciting enough for me!

We decided to go eat and then came back for the show. We had (by some miracle) landed first row seats, which was amazing!! I had already seen the show once before in Saginaw, MI on March 30th but clearly it was way more exciting this time seeing her front row! My friend and I got her a bear and we attached notes to it for her so I was hoping she’d come over and get it from me.

When the show started it was amazing, Carrie looked beautiful as always and she came up super close to us. I didn’t want to bother her too much by waving my arms like a crazy person so I decided to wait until she just noticed me holding the bear on her own. During “I Ain’t In Checotah” she came over for the second time and looked down at the bear. I reached out to give it to her and she smiled. She bent down to take it from me and I seriously blanked out at that moment. It was all a blur. I just remember not knowing what to say ‘cause it’s not like she could hear me anyway, but I said “thank you” because she took it. All I remember is her looking at me right in the eye (when I almost died) and saying “thank you”. She took the bear and was holding it for a minute, and then went over and put him on the stage, right in the middle, next to the drums. Needless to say, I was jealous of that bear because he had the best seat in the house! Ha!

It was an amazing night, Carrie put on an incredible show (as usual) and I can’t wait to see her again! Thanks Carrie for taking the bear…I hope you like it!!

Edited to add: I got pictures that my friend took of Carrie with the bear. So cute!
