So I'm lying...it's actually more pictures than review, as there will be a million people with the ability to better remember fun details than I.
While I had RSVP'd to the party, I actually was going to skip it. I'd been out of work for the week prior and have a lot going on and none of my normal concert buddies were able to make it, so I thought that I might stay home for once. Well, Sunday night rolls around-just a few hours after one of my worst ever airport experiences coming home from DC-and I somehow find motivation. At just about midnight, I got online and got my airline tickets (which were free, as always, haha) and my hotel room. Since I had to be at the airport at 9 a.m., I did a quick unpack and repack and I was on my way.
I rolled into Nashville on time and spent the day relaxing at the pool. I fell asleep there, which in the blazing sun, was not the best decision. So if you saw a bright red fanclub member today, that was likely me! Blake Sheldon was staying at my hotel, which was cool. I passed him, but since I don't really know country stuff too well, I didn't know he was anyone important until a hotel employee told me otherwise. Oops, hahaha. I took a ride downtown and met Cathie for a lovely meal which included fried pickles, fried green tomatoes and pulled pork. (diet starts tomorrow)!
I will spare you all the details of the FC party, as I don't have the best memory for details. I can say it was a HUGE improvement over last year. The set they played was amazing-really stunning arrangements of all the songs with a few of the band members missing (to make it more stripped down). They gave out a bunch of really nice gifts (by raffle) and Carrie did a long Q and A. A definite highlight was Carole, who came on stage to answer a question and stayed there for a while. She went backstage but as they were giving out the "grand prize", which was a trip to New Orleans (flights, airfare, hotel, concert tickets), Carole came running back out as though she was the winner. She is SUPER CUTE!!!
Both Carrie and Carole said some very kind words about the fans. Carrie mentioned how nice it was to see so many of the same familiar faces over the last couple of years and that she hoped that we wouldn't get bored of her and she would see us 10 years from now. Carole chimed in to say that they all appreciated our support.
Carrie had many cute stories to share, but the best was certainly her story about her "zipper incident". Apparently she did some radio interviews today and was actually asked about it. Last week, at one of the shows, she performed quite a few songs with the zipper to her jeans all the way down. She didn't realize until she went to do her costume change and said she was mortified. hahahahaha!
After the party, I made a quick run down to the Pita Pit (because I HAD to) and then got lucky and got an earlier flight back home.
All in all-a great decision to make the last-minute trip. It was great to see so many familiar faces and to meet many new people!!
For my friends who couldn't make it-you were missed. I had many a "where is Louise?", "where is Sara", "WHERE are those WOOD sisters" questions, lol.
Some pics...
Really Mrs. Underwood-be cuter!
