I was one of the fortunate folks that had a chance to be on the crowd last night for Carries first official concert as a member of the Grand Ole Opry & let me just say that Carrie absolutely blew the roof off the Altel Arena in Little Rock last night. Anyone that hasn't seen this girl live would not believe it is the same person anymore. She has fun, engages the audience ( she was really talkative from start to finish), & has them in the palm of her hand from the time she rises up put of the stage to sing Flat on the Floor, until the time the confetti cannons go off at the end of Before He Cheats.
She & Josh Turner both mentioned the Opry Induction. She was so proud. She said she had the opportunity to experience a once in a life time event in Nashville the night before. And went on to tell about the statue that she was given. She said she really wanted to bring it along & show everybody, but she is such a clutz she would probably lose it, so it is safely tucked away in her trophy case. But, she was very emotional when she said that without those of us in the audience that had voted for her to win Idol & supported her every step of the way that she wouldn't be where she is now.
Because I know some of you are interested. She began the show in a rather short black mini skirt with some incredible high heels, & ended it up barefoot for Before He Cheats.
There are so many memorable vocal moments during one of her shows it's hard to pick a favorite, so I'll just say they were all great, but the emotion she wrings out of I Told You So may put that song at the top.
