Country Singer Mindy McCready To Serve Jail Time
Country singer Mindy McCready will surrender to Tennessee police on Tuesday to begin serving a 60-day jail sentence for violating probation on a previous drug-related charge.
"I am working very hard to put all of this behind me as quickly as possible so I can get back to what I like to do most: sing, write songs and entertain," McCready said in a statement.
"I would like to thank my fans for their unwavering support as I continue to work on my recovery and to regain custody of my precious son, Zander."
McCready was originally convicted of prescription drug fraud in 2004 and placed on parole. Her previous albums have included 'Ten Thousand Angels' and 'If I Don't Stay the Night'.
It's been a tumultuous year for the singer. In July, she postponed a comeback after overdosing on drugs, a relapse which landed her in hospital, followed by a trip to rehab in July.
Earlier this year, Mindy also confirmed having an affair with Roger Clemens when she was just a teenager and the pitcher was in his late twenties.
