Heather Locklear was arrested in California on Saturday evening on suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance in the Santa Barbara area, officials said Sunday.

Locklear was pulled over by a California Highway Patrol officer after a resident called police upon seeing the actress "drive forwards and backwards over a pair of sunglasses and revving her engine" while leaving a parking lot and "driving erratically."

Patrol spokesman Tom Marshall says that "in talking with her, the officer determines that she seems to be under the influence of something." Locklear was then taken to the police station, where she was tested for alcohol as well as drugs, and was subsequently booked for driving under the influence of prescription medication.

"She was evaluated by a drug recognition expert, who concluded Ms. Locklear was under the influence of a controlled substance, and could not safely operate a motor vehicle," the CHP said in a statement.

The 47-year-old actress, whose credits include 'Dynasty', 'Melrose Place' and 'Spin City' was released several hours later on $5,000 bail.

Heather Locklear checked herself into a medical clinic in June for anxiety and depression. She was released a month later but appears to be still battling the demons.
