Fox Dramas '24' And 'Dollhouse' Suspend Production
Fox dramas '24' and 'Dollhouse' have shut down production for a couple of weeks to work on scripts.
The decision to stop filming this week and take a breather on '24' came after executive producer Howard Gordon expressed concern with the direction of the season's final six episodes. Writers will take the next two weeks to rethink the plot's ultimate direction and rewrite scripts for those episodes.
Shooting is expected to resume on October 9, but the delay will not affect the series' season seven premiere in January 2009 since eight episodes had already been shot prior to the writers' strike and hence filming was ahead of schedule.
Working on the seventh season of the show hasn't been easy, '24' delayed production last year after scrapping plans to film in Africa, then production was halted again when producers weren't happy with the season's plot, which was then followed by the strike.
Kiefer Sutherland has said that he expects Season 7 to be the best season of the series so far because "the writers actually took the time to create a map of the entire season before we started shooting," but that map appears to be changing. Hopefully, it will be worth the wait.
And Joss Whedon's highly anticipated drama 'Dollhouse' has also stopped filming after completing its third episode. Whedon has evidently spent more time directing the first two episodes than he anticipated and, wanting to tweak the upcoming scripts, he has asked production be stopped while he finishes the episodes.
Production on the Eliza Dushku starrer is slated to resume September 25.
