First came her admission that ex Tony Romo still called even as he's dating Jessica Simpson, and now it seems the sizzling country star remains in contact with another of her old boyfriends: Chace Crawford!

At Wednesday night's Stand Up For a Cure lung cancer benefit at NYC's Madison Square Garden, Gossip Girl star Chace told OK! he and Carrie haven't become strangers, saying they remain friends "cordially."

Chace's confession makes sense, as OK! spied Carrie – who performed the charity song "Stand Up" at the taping of Fashion Rocks on Sept. 5 – chatting backstage with the Gossip Girl hunk in their first meeting since breaking up in March.

"They were getting on like old pals," an onlooker tells OK!

As for a future real life leading lady, Chace has a definite type. He's said that Tina Fey's character Liz Lemon on 30 Rock is what he looks for in a woman, so how about the potential future Vice President?

"I’m not gonna lie, Sarah Palin’s quite attractive," he says.

I figured they probably saw each other backstage. Not surprised that he likes Tina Fey and Sarah Palin, he apparently likes older women! His character on GG is even with an older woman!

yeah, I agree that they are still friends. I mean why wouldn't they be? They both said that it just didn't work, so why throw a friendship away!

He presented right before she went on to perform. Im sure they were both backstage and had a quick chat to catch up.

^I wish that too. They were just too cute together. It cant be ignored.

But I think the reason she broke up with him is because he doesnt want to be in a serious relationship, he seems to enjoy the bachelor lifestyle. And their age, that was prob an issue as well.

so I guess no one posted the New York Daily News article here that was out before the Ok article? It said that Chace and Carrie were backstage huddled together talking and Chace turned around and glared at a photographer when he tried to take their picture. Just then a security guy stepped in and blocked the photographer. There have been numerous reports that they are still friends and talk starting in May with an article that came out in the June issue of the UK GQ. Chace said she is very sweet and they are still friends. From there between mid Aug and early Sept at least three other times Carrie and Chace saying they are still friends and talk. Enews and the Daily 10 and OK mag. They are just slowly getting the word out that they are talking as friends. I still follow Chace and he's a great guy in my opinion. He was always protecting Carrie from the papparrazzi and it still looks like he is now.
If you knew their schedules late spring and this summer, it was impossible for them to be together. Everytime she was near LA, NY, or off he was shooting, in the wrong city for an event or he was out of the country in the UK. They knew what they were saying when it just wasn't gonna work. I did see an article out in April though that stated they may try to see each other again when the tour winds down and that was US mag. I believe. Whatever they talk about Im sure Chace is laughing because Carrie is so funny. They have alot in common in their likes and I'm sure they still care for each other in a friendly way.
