Britney Spears Takes Home Three Awards At MTV VMAs
Britney Spears'comeback' was a year later than she had planned but it was definitely her night at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night, and she didn't even have to sing or dance at the awards show like the debacle last year.
Spears took home three VMAs for video of the year, best pop video and best female video, all for her tune 'Piece of Me'. And the singer kept her acceptance speeches brief and coherent: "I'm in shock right now," the 26-year-old said, after taking the stage to receive her third award for video of the year.
Britney also opened the VMAs, as promised, with a two minute pretaped segment with 'Superbad's Jonah Hill. Jonah tried to show Spears his 'relaxation techiniques' -- all of which involved kissing of course -- but unfortunately Britney wasn't very accommodating.
It was a relatively tame night but host Russell Brand did manage to ruffle a few feathers by calling George Bush a "retarded country fella" who "wouldn't be trusted with a pair of scissors" and pleading with Americans to vote for Barack Obama during his opening monologue.
Here's the complete list of winners from the night:
Video of the year: Britney Spears, "Piece of Me."
Female video: Britney Spears, "Piece of Me."
Male video: Chris Brown, "With You."
Rock video: Linkin Park, "Shadow of the Day."
Hip-hop video: Lil Wayne, "Lollipop."
Pop video: Britney Spears, "Piece of Me."
Dancing in a video: The Pussycat Dolls, "When I Grow Up."
New artist: Tokio Hotel
