Thread: All American Girl Carrie Underwood climbs her way to the top

Oklahoma native Carrie Underwood once dreamed of being on stage and singing for the fans. Within a matter of moments, that dream came true as she was named the American Idol and known as "America's Country Sweetheart" to her fans. The awards came in and the records were being sold faster than they could be placed on the shelves in some stores.

Underwood was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, at the surprise at many country music fans. They felt that she hadn't "earned her keep" by playing in the honky tonks down on Broadway and her golden ticket was what got her here. The Grand Ole Opry responded by saying that they needed her to boost their attendance and to give a "fresh face" for the future. There are so many others that are legendary that would love to become members of the Opry.

With her success, Carrie has been able to put some money into charities close to her heart and do things that are not possible otherwise. She is a strong supporter of American military service men and women and their families. She has performed countless shows and showed her support to veterans.

Coming from Checotah, Oklahoma, Underwood doesn't forget where she was born and raised. She recently announced that she is starting a foundation, CATS (Checotah Animal, Town, and School Foundation). It will help with general causes, needs and services in the area of Checotah to directly impact the community. Carrie says, “My hometown is extremely supportive of me and I feel blessed to be able to create something as a way of giving back; to say thank you.”

As little girls dream to become a singing star, they have someone to look up. That someone being the "All-American Girl" Carrie Underwood.
