great blog thanks!
This blogger rated JAD #1 like many others have.
Top 40 Songs 0f 2008: #10-1 Country Music Central
*#1: “Just A Dream” by Carrie Underwood*
You can argue all you want against whether Carrie deserves her fame and fortune or not because she came into the genre unconventionally, but if there is one thing that she has proven in 2008 it’s that she belongs in music. In doing so she gave the country music world what I believe to be the best song of the year, “Just A Dream”, a powerful and charged ballad about a woman forced to face the loss of her husband who lost his life fighting at war in the Armed Forces. Carrie has proven time and time again that she has the voice, she has the knowledge, and she has the feel that can sell records and make a whole lot of hits. However, never before had she pulled all this off as she did with “Just A Dream”. The song took full advantage of the amazing vocal range that Carrie has to her credit and a powerful storyline that could have easily been overplayed and throws them into a mixing pot, becoming a nice big chocolate cake for country radio, and everyone wanted a slice. This ballad has become by far Carrie’s best single to date, and considering her album material it stands as her best song to date.
It may be going a little to far, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Carrie taking the reins from Reba or Shania as she progresses in her career. It’s women like that that have thus far only been able to take songs like this one and turn them into classics and perfected works of art. Carrie’s powerful tribute to the wives and girlfriends of fallen soldiers took aim and fired on the hearts of millions from all over the music world and managed to score a bulls eye. Filled with intensity, sincerity, pure and unrated emotion, and a story that would break even the most solid heart, “Just A Dream” is just a magnificent and unforgettable musical experience that is a must hear for every respectable music fan.
great blog thanks!
That was just beautiful to read! 2008 brought us a lot of Carrie that we never got to see before. She said she wasn't ready for a headlining tour earlier this year, but boy, was she ready! JAD is such a remarkable song and it's a compliment to a fantastic year for Carrie and her fans to have it top several charts and polls! I'm glowing with pride right now...you could spot me a mile away! lol
Thanks for the post!![]()

Just A Dream seems to be getting alot of recognition from critics and the industry and it's great to hear ..too bad radio wasn't as bowled over by it (2 ? weeks at #1)as the critics appear to be.
I know I must sound ungrateful because 2weeks at number 1 is a great acheivement, but it's such a great song... it truly deserved a longer stay at the top.
I also think that LN deserved a longer stay as well...
that is a great blog!
Love me or hate me..promise it won't make or break me =]]]]
radio charts are not reflective of a songs strength. there are many other acclaimed songs that didnt even reach the top. if you dig deep into the history, many career defining songs never even reachd the top.
edit: i looked at the list and am quite impressed. i agree with almost every entry in his top 10. Brads Waiting on a Woman is a very deserving #2.
May you always have
enough happiness to keep you sweet;
enough trials to keep you strong;
enough success to keep you eager;
enough faith to give you courage;
and enough determination to make each day a good day!"
CONGRATS CARRIE AND MIKE!!!
Great blog
i still think JAD has a strong pop sound to it
i dont know if it would do well on top 40
but it would on AC and HAC
maybe they will release ITYS to country radio and JAD to AC>>HAC and suff
Very proud of Jad and Carrie.
So glad that people are seeing what we have seen from the start.
I can't imagine anyone even being capable of singing JAD.
It's Carries. Another signature song as sung by the only one who really can.
i love this blog entry.this is exactly why JAD has been my favorite song ever since CR came out. this is why we waited day and night, not knowing when the JAD vid would be released. we knew this song could touch many lives, and we believed in it from the very beginning. now, everyone else believes in it too.
but if there is one thing that she has proven in 2008 it’s that she belongs in music. In doing so she gave the country music world what I believe to be the best song of the year, “Just A Dream”
With friendship it doesn't matter how long
you've known each other, or how many fights
you got into. what matters is who said
"i'll be there for you"
and who proved it.
I agree 100%.
I remember the first time I ever heard JAD.
I said this is the best song in the whole world.
And over a year later and listening to it about a million times, I still agree.
3/18/09 - All I can say about tonight is that for the first time I really want Carrie's music to continue progressing more to the traditional side of country music and I think it will. I don't care if it doesn't sell as well or all go #1, it's beautiful with Carrie's voice. Tonight I saw her as a Country legend for the first time.
Maybe part of the reason JAD hasn't received more radio play is due to it's heart wrenching sadness. I know people who have watched the video of JAD, but the tragedy of death makes it too difficult for them to watch or listen to again becauae some are dealing with the death of a loved one, or the potential that a loved one could die. The death might not be related to war: but for my brother, who cannot watch the JAD video again, the thought of his son dieing from cancer (brain tumor) is too sorrowful, and brings him to tears. Maybe radio requests for JAD aren't high enough because of its topic. Just my opinion. thanks for listening.
i love this blog.
Another reason radio may not have been that keen on JAD is that, to me, the video packs such a wallop that it might be somewhat less on the radio. Just a thought. I have loved this song from the first time I heard it and I, thank God, do not have that loss connection as yet. Powerful song!!! Love Carrie!
Another number one nod for JAD that is so awesome!
And I wasn't sure if I should post this, lol. I don't think I have ever gotten this many thanks before.
