Little Big Town Carries on (Carrie mentioned)
Oct. 7, 2008 — Little Big Town got a plum spot this fall as the opening act on Carrie Underwood’s much-attended Carnival Ride Tour, and as one might expect, the band is thrilled to be on the schedule.
But it’s not like they’re doing it only for the money. In fact, the group’s Karen Fairchild says she’d make it a point to see Carrie’s concert this year even if they weren’t the opening act.
"When Carrie comes out, the crowd just comes unglued," Karen told The Chicago Tribune. "She is a kick-butt singer, just a girl who has the chops. The tone of her voice is so easy to listen to."
Carrie’s stocked her set list with plenty of her own signature numbers, including "Jesus, Take The Wheel," "Last Name," "All-American Girl" and "Before He Cheats." But she also throws in her cover of Randy Travis’ "I Told You So" and serves up another song that’s fairly unexpected.
"She's a rocker at heart, and it's just cool to see what influenced her," Karen said. "So she rocks it out at the end with a Guns N' Roses cover."
Carrie and Brad Paisley are set to co-host "The 42nd Annual CMA Awards" from Nashville’s Sommet Center Nov. 12. Meanwhile, Carrie and Little Big Town — GAC’s Artist of the Month for October — are currently touring Canada through Sunday.
