But the longtime radio man doesn't have much to say about the state of modern music. At one time, O'Day commanded a now unheard-of market share of nearly 40 percent, giving music lovers common ground with each other. Now, he said, everything is fragmented.
Modern music leaves him a little cold, even though he tried to hold back and not say anything negative.
"So much for public relations," he said, although he did mention he liked country singer-songwriter Carrie Underwood.
It's the production-on-the-cheap, now-you-see-them, now-you don't bands with no staying power.
As for Pearl Jam? Of course, he likes Pearl Jam, he said.
