The Official Acadamy of Country Music Awards thread

Well when I think of an AOTY winner, the voting should go to the album that's had some sort of impact on country music and will be remembered 5, 10 or 20 years from now. The only album on the list of nominees that I think come close to that are either Miranda's or Taylor's. Miranda's lack of chart success will hurt her chances so that leaves Taylor. I know she's the most hated artist on this board but not even her haters can deny that she has had ton of success with the album and all the singles have been successful not only on the country charts but also in other formats and downloads. Those are some of the reasons SH won AOTY and I'm expecting the same for TS's album.

Plus I'm curious to know how apes**t some of the people on this board would get if she does win. Hehe!!

Personally, I don't think Taylor's album has had any impact in country music. I definitely won't remember this album 10 years from now, but that's just me. But I have to admit that she has had tons of success, and because of that, she probably will win this award.

I'm curious as to how an Album can win Album of the Year yet have no songs on it nominated for Song or Single of the Year? Doesn't make any sense to me, all the other albums nominated aside from Brad had a least a song nominated in one of those two catagories.

good point. If her songs are not good enough to make single or song of the year- I guess the only way her album will win is by sales.

but this is not the Billboard AWards. Taylor will win country album of the year for sure at the billboard awards- because they are based solely on sales and nothing more.

But the ACMS are supposed to be about artistry too, and quality, right?? Radio success as well-- not just sales.

Otherwise- someone like bon jovi could win country album of the year-- for his last country album...if he outsold everyone in country. lol That would be really funny,.

Haha that would be good. I'm hoping that Carrie wins FVOTY too, but you know it's not a given.

As I've said before, if Taylor wins either or both (or heck, all of her awards)...my tv will be hitting the sidewalk three floors down

ditto.. She is so arrogant--- they showed her at her on some acm preshow or whatever- I can't remember- but it wsa on either GAC or CMT yesterday. Anyway-- she was bragging how she is hte only person who's album went 3 times platinum for writing it all herself-- and kept bragging on and on and on. The interviewer didn't have to ask her a single question-- because taylor just gives a monologue of how great she thinks she is, until they cut her off.

I'm not even sure Taylor will win Billboard award, it's a long time till the cutoff and Carrie's CR could really take off. Taylors songs on Pop and AC aren't doing that good, OS didn't go much of nowhere on either one of them so even with an edit it didn't help

Well that's why I said those two come the closest. I doubt they'll be remembered but they have the best chances out of all the nominees.

I think the contenders for AOTY are all weak. This is probably the weakest Year as far as the nominees go.

Have you looked at some of the songs up for Song and Single of the Year? Gary Allen is one, sure it's a nice song but come on now.

I actually will remember Brad and Kenny's new albums 10 years from now- especially Brad's....because Online and Ticks were hysterical. I also will remember Gunpowder and lead because it is a distinctive song. But I will hire a hypotist if necessary to make me erase the memories of OS from my mind.

I agree with you on Gary. I like the song, in my opinion, it's definitley not song/single of the year matieral.

i respect your opinion, i just think that some people here are spending more energy hating Taylor than talking about Carrie... and that's a fact.
i don't care about the Taylor hate, it's not going to change what i think about her or Carrie... i just don't think that is cool hating someone that much.

So true. If people were kicked out of the country music industy because of dislike or hate towards them I'm sure Carrie would be one of the first ones. Why? because like Taylor she has a lot of haters who are bitter because of the fact that she's had ton of success and overshadows their favorite.
