i cant wait to hear what vince gill, randy travis, and lil jimmy dickens have to say about carrie! i dont remember little jimmy say something about her, should be great!
Little Jimmy has been playing the Opry since 1948 so he's seen it all. I seem to remember him saying once that he had not seen the kind of audience excitement generated there (by Carrie) since Hank Williams (that's over 50 years ago). In fact I'd love it if he participated in the induction and sang with her. The oldest and youngest members together. Jimmy usually does these corny songs, but if they picked the right sentimental song it could be a real Opry moment. Ok, I'm delusional!
Ok, here is the schedule for the night as of now (this has also been added to the 1st post).
Given the listing for 7-8 PM, it looks like they are going to keep the name of the person inducting Carrie a secret until showtime. Dierks is the only member listed and I think we can all agree that it won't be Dierks that will induct Carrie (Robin would have a nervous breakdown ). And it won't be Vince since he is not listed in that slot.

OK, I'm going way out on a limb here but since everyone is speculating... I see Carrie comes on right after the Del McCoury Band in both shows. They're a fantastic bluegrass band and I've seen them back up many different singers at the Opry. I think it would be cool if Carrie did something with them, giving a nod to the tradition of the Opry (something like Muleskinner Blues). We all know Carrie can sing anything. It won't happen, but if it does you heard it here first!
I agree--- I don't think carrie and martina are all that close....and Reba is super nice to carrie, but she does seem to support kelly clarkson more.
Though- reba has introduced carrie at several events, like the Oklahoma centennial thing, the grammys, acms, etc. She is an Okie so that would be very fitting.
I am just holding out for garth or dolly, or loretta. lol
It's a shame that Martina and Carrie don't seem close, especially since Carrie looked up to her and sang her song on AI. Quite honestly, I don't think Martina is very fond of Carrie. Everytime Carrie wins an award, especially FVOTY, she is pretty emotionless and just politely claps like she has too. Oh well.
I would love for it to be Reba, as she seems to have really been genuinely supportive of Carrie and always smiles and claps sincerely for Carrie when she wins and has introduced her several times in the past. But for that reason, I don't think it will be her either b/c it's suppose to be a BIG surprise. So I'm sure they are going to pick someone that most wouldn't expect to add to the surprise/suspense.
Since Carrie really haven't had much connection w/ Garth Brooks except for that one time at the Centennial, which was on PBS and so not many people were watching it, I think he would be a great candidate and that to top it off Carrie should be able to do a duet w/ him, like he promised her when she was a kid. That would be my and I'm sure Carrie's ultimate dream. I would just die if that was the case.
Either way, I'm sure whoever it is, it will be a BIG surprise and bring people to tears. I'm tearing up just thinking about it.
Maybe it will be her dad since we have never seen him on tv before........that would be kewl.

1st paragraph: i agree... i kind of feel weird when martina presents an award to carrie.
2nd: ooohhh yeeaaahhh!!!! woohoo!! i hope so!
3rd: he should go on stage with the Underwood clan or something. aha.

Martina and Carrie seem to be really close. She came back on AI as a guest mentor. Martina seemed to be really proud of her winning AOTY at the ACM awards last year. Martina is Carrie's own idol.

I must say that I have never felt that Martina & Carrie were close in any way. Yes, Carrie cited Martina as her Idol way back when, but her name is never mentioned any more. Once you actually meet someone, some of the lustre is gone & they don't always end up as they appear.
I have heard stories about Martina from other sources that don't paint a very pretty picture at all, but you take them for what they are. Stories from other sources.
^ I like martina alot- but I think there is a big age gap between the two that will keep them from being "friends" really. Martina is like 15 years older then carrie, as is faith, shania, and sara evans, trisha, etc. The only females carrie's age are miranda, leanne and kellie pickler. Carrie is over 7 years older then taylor so I don't see them ever being good friends either--- that hockey game was set up by kellie, and carrie said she doesn't really know taylor that well. So carrie's only female friends her age in the business are really kellie and miranda...but since miranda is not always that nice to carrie--- that leaves kellie only--- as we all know how leanne rimes feels about carrie. Plus leanne acts like 40 anyway.

You are right, Carrie does not have anyone her age outside of Pickler.
