Let's see how things may go the next couple of weeks...
Tim McGraw's Let It Go
- 159,317 albums separate Let It Go and Some Hearts
- LIG would have to outsell SH by an average of 15,932 albums a week for 10 weeks to catch up
- Last week, LIG only outsold SH by 1,390 albums
- Conclusion: NOT a threat to overtake SH at all
Taylor Swift's Taylor Swift
- 210,986 albums separate Taylor Swift and Some Hearts
- TS would have to outsell SH by an average of 21,099 albums a week for 10 weeks to catch up
- Last week, TS only outsold SH by 12,280 albums
- Conclusion: not yet a threat, but the situation could change when Taylor Swift is re-released November 6th
Rascal Flatts' Still Feels Good
- 435,263 albums separate Still Feels Good and Some Hearts
- SFG would have to outsell SH by an average of 43,526 albums a week for 10 weeks to catch up
- Last week, SFG outsold SH by 60,722 albums
- Conclusion: SFG will most likely overtake SH by the end of the calendar year, possibly in 7 weeks from now

I dont think Rascal Flatts will catch up to Carrie intime, they are already down to 60,000 this week, and they dont have a current hit single out besides TMT, so its sales will likly fall before they can outsell Carrie. I think Carrie will once again have the best selling country album of 2007.
Holiday season is coming though and Still Feels Good will definitely see a bigger bump in sales than SH. Carrie's holiday sales bump will benefit CR. I do hope SH can hold on and if it has to be overtaken, let CR be the one.
she'll probably end the year with the top 1 and 2 selling albums of 2007
That's what I'm hoping for too. Worse case scenario, she should have 2 albums in the top 5 and that's still really impressive. Other artists wish they could be as lucky.
The numbers for the Billboard 200 for the week ending 10/28 still haven't leaked so m&m hasn't been able to compile a new chart. Numbers for the country albums have been out for a while though so I can do the Rascal Flatts and Talor Swift comparison for now.
Sales thru 10/28 would result in the following for the calendar year chart:
Some Hearts - 1,330,994 Taylor Swift - 1,131,361 Still Feels Good - 939,348
Taylor Swift's Taylor Swift
- 199,633 albums separate Taylor Swift and Some Hearts
- TS would have to outsell SH by an average of 22,182 albums a week for 9 weeks to catch up
- Last week, TS only outsold SH by 11,353 albums
- Conclusion: not a threat, but we'll have to re-asses when we get the numbers from her re-release
Rascal Flatts' Still Feels Good
- 391,646 albums separate Still Feels Good and Some Hearts
- SFG would have to outsell SH by an average of 43,517 albums a week for 9 weeks to catch up
- Last week, SFG outsold SH by 43,617 albums
- Conclusion: SFG could overtake SH by the end of the calendar year, but SH's chances to hold on as the #1 country album have vastly improved compared to the past weeks.
I'm looking forward to tracking Carnival Ride when it enters the fray
Taylor Swift's Taylor Swift
- 185,130 albums separate Taylor Swift and Some Hearts
- TS would have to outsell SH by an average of 23,142 albums a week for 8 weeks to catch up
- Last week, TS only outsold SH by 14,503 albums
- Conclusion: not a threat, but we'll have to re-asses when we get the numbers from her re-release
Rascal Flatts' Still Feels Good
- 350,317 albums separate Still Feels Good and Some Hearts
- SFG would have to outsell SH by an average of 43,790 albums a week for 8 weeks to catch up
- Last week, SFG only outsold SH by 41,329 albums
- Conclusion: SFG could overtake SH by the end of the calendar year with the big shopping weeks ahead, but SH's chances to hold on as the #1 country album have vastly improved compared to the past weeks.
New analysis for Week 45 (I'm still waiting for m&m's full YTD chart, but I can already compute for the Carrie-RF-TS comparison from the released SoundScan numbers):
Taylor Swift's Taylor Swift
- 132,819 albums separate Taylor Swift and Some Hearts
- TS would have to outsell SH by an average of 18,975 albums a week for 7 weeks to catch up
- Last week, TS outsold SH by 52,311 albums due in large part to the re-release
- Conclusion: It may overtake SH. We'll have to watch closely in the upcoming weeks.
Rascal Flatts' Still Feels Good
- 315,671 albums separate Still Feels Good and Some Hearts
- SFG would have to outsell SH by an average of 45,096 albums a week for 7 weeks to catch up
- Last week, SFG only outsold SH by 34,646 albums
- Conclusion: It's looking less and less likely that SFG will overtake SH by the end of the year.
Oh, and we also have to watch out for The Eagles who are already at 1,070,207 after just 2 weeks.

Good analysis, but you might consider Carnival Ride in this group. By year's end, you might be surprised at the total.
