I think maybe we are expecting too much right off the bat b/c like Cary said JTTW didn't go to #1 until around January after the album had been out for a couple months. So who is to say that SS doesn't start slowing down or even start dropping down the charts before the album comes out but once the album has been out for a month or so SS doesn't start to regain spins again since some promotion for it would have been done at that time. I mean Jttw worked its way up the charts on its own but I'm sure by the time it got to the top ten it had the additional radio/tv promotions backing it up by then to get it to #1. But since SS didn't start at the very bottom like JTTW did but just shot out the gate to the top in just a week, it's having to slow down or is slowing down b/c A) to not go #1 way too early B) promotion hasn't caught up with the single yet to back it up to #1.

I mean SS is basically floating at the top w/ no promotion and for it to be at #10 w/ no promotional help is pretty incredible. I'm hoping before the album comes out, SS will have gradually risen up the charts on its own w/o waiting for promotion to catch up to it and at least is in the top 5 right at the release date but even if it isn't, doesn't mean that after Carrie starts promoting her new album and SS once the album is out that SS won't have a resurge again and starts going up the charts again. I mean just look at GB's song...okay bad example but you get the point

I get your point and you seem to be as optomistic as I am. Like I've said, this song is just too good not to be at least a number 5 song or even a number one song. If you compare it to the songs in front of her, it's just doesn't make any sense for it not to go up. I'll wait for the next two weeks to see what happens and then after the cd is released we'll all know something more definitive. I'm still pretty hopeful So Small will rise in the charts, all the negative posts not withstanding.

It seems like we just went through this scenario just last week. I think this is part 3, with part 4 being in rising in the charts. I don't know if I can hack going through part 14 and 15 cause I'll just drop from exhaustion. lol

SS (+3 spins, +0.057 million AIs) remains at #10. SS did gain on Dierks Bentley's FAE (+12 spins, -0.103 million AIs) as it lost AIs. Garth Brooks' MTAM (-15 spins, -0.368 million AIs) did drop due to the loss of the extra countdown spin. However, based on the size of the loss, I would guess that without the countdown effect, MTAM would have gained airplay. And Rascal Flatts' TMT (+105 spins, +0.59 million AIs) holds off Brad Paisley's Online (+12 spins, +0.228 million AIs) for #1 on Billboard/R&R. Chances are that TMT will get one more week at #1 with the promotional airplay it will get this week.

On AC, BHC (-9 spins, -0.041 million AIs) drops a spot to #7 as Bon Jovi moves up. The question is whether this will be like the times that Plain White T's passed BHC that only lasted one day.

cool- any positive step forward is good. It seems that luke bryan and brooks and dunn are definetly on their way down...but toby seems to have gotten a second wind. I am SO sick of dierks though- SS is WAY better then his dull road song, so I cannot wait till SS passes him for good.

"Carnival Ride" will have great sales whether or not "So Small" will be #1 on
October 23, 2007 because JTTW was #18 only at the time that "Some Hearts" was released. However, this is a masterpiece song, so, I am very optimistic that it will be #1 on October 23, 2007. The following chart will show that even if "So Small" will not be #1, "Carnival Ride" album will have great sales:
