THANK YOU!

i remember when carrie just started out we were hoping she'd get decent airplay and that the industry will give her a fair shot. now that shes the queen its hypocritical to begrudge other up and coming ladies in country that same shot that carrie was given.

TS has about two more songs charting on country radio than Carrie but some of it is her Christmas songs off her Christmas album, which Carrie doesn't have except for the one song she did. I'm sure if Carrie had a Christmas album out, alot of those songs would be charting too. So don't worry about TS. The fact is every single Carrie has released so far has made it to #1. Very few can say that. Even though I don't get it much, TS is having her own success and that's good for her and country music in general. She seems like she works hard and enjoys what she does. We need more females to do well in country music as a whole even if we have our own favorites or aren't particular fans of another artist's music. There's room for everybody. So I say the more the merrier

I actually love Kelly Pickler's version of Santa Baby...I think it suits her voice very well and is upbeat...so I'm not surprised that she is ahead of Carrie. I haven't heard TS's version to judge...I'll have to check it out in addition to her version of "Last Christmas" before I can comment but it seems like it is being received by country radio.

Does anybody know why there isn't any audio clips available for TS's Christmas album? I've looked on amazon and aol and there aren't any posted which is odd since Martina's Christmas album have clips available for hers not to mention Carrie's label Christmas album does too.

Here's a stream of Taylor's Last Christmas. It's upbeat, which is probably why it is getting airplay. The vocals are just ok. Taylor needed to stay within her vocal range. The high notes are very weak.

I agree that Kellie's Santa Baby is very good. It's very playful, which fits her personality and it fits her voice.

It's just a guess. But if Carrie's DYHWIH performance for the Rockefeller Center tree lighting follows the video we saw and has a more upbeat arrangement, I think radio will request the live version just like they did with the CMA performance of SS. And that will probably also boost the airplay.

thanks for the audio...I think it's doing well b/c it is an upbeat song and b/c she has a youthful voice...I'm still into Carrie's more vocally though of course. But I guess it's a more traditional, slow song so might not be as exciting for radio. I love Carrie and Kelly's the best as far as vocals but TS's is okay too (I like it b/c it's upbeat, fun) I guess it comes down to personal preferences.

Amazon.com

Well at least it's almost Christmas time so I'll take any Christmas song I can get...I love listening to Christmas songs on the radio.

Thanks for the link. I don't like this version at all.

Kellie's Santa Baby is the perfect song for her. I'm not surprised at all that she sang it. It fits her well. I wonder how a song like that would do if Carrie sang it instead of the more traditional kind that she does.

eek! Carrie's version of this song at Christmas in Washington was so much better! But anyway, hopefully Carrie's song will pick up steam on the country charts too.

I think because SS is still at number 1, maybe her label is holding back DYHWIH a little as it could actually take away SS spins, right? That is why I am only requesting it on AC right now, not country yet.

Though I am sick of Santa Baby, I really do like kellie's version. I didn't think a countrified version of that song would be decent, but it is.

yes go to vinman's site. you can get an mp3 of it. She performed it for the President at Christmas in Washington in 2005. She also did Oh Holy Night, and Rascal Flats was there too- it was very cute. you can watch all performances at youtube, or get the mp3's off vinmansmedia.com.

Oh yeah I remember...it's just so different from TS's version I forgot. Almost two completely different songs but yet it's the same song

TS's version is more upbeat, youthful whereas Carrie's is more mature, serious, and adult like. So people probably like TS for that reason and like Carrie's voice for another reason. I guess I'm more into adult sounding voices w/ alot of range and so will prefer Carrie's voice more than Taylor's but some people prefer that youthful sound so are going to like her better. Just a matter of taste I guess. I guess TS's voice reminds me too much of Hilary Duff's voice that it's hard for me to get into it much but she does have catchy tunes at least and songs that are upbeat (not boring).

I wouldn't really even say Taylor's voice is good because it's youthful.. I do like her and some of her songs but to me her voice is weak. She is pretty much always off on live performances. The recorded songs on her cd just sound like a different person almost. But hey I know she is only 17 and nerves can get the best of you during live shows. Her voice is obviously good enough to get a record deal though.

I love that I love both Carrie and Taylor so I don't need to go to two different forums to read about both them, I just need to come here!
I mean, everyday someone says something about Taylor, people start loving or hating her, worrying about how well she's doing on the charts... Sometimes I get twisted and forget I'm in a CARRIEfans forum!!!

I just wish those who can't get enough of worrying about Taylor's success would stop bringing this issue to this forum, cause when I was new here, it made me sad and made me think Carrie's career was going down the lane and almost made me hate Taylor, cause, of course, the way I used to read things it always sounded like it was Taylor's fault that she's being successful and we all should hate her cause would dethrone Carrie and it's not like this!!!
So, I ask, please, krrp your hate for yourselves cause I don't like being recognized as a Carriefan: the ones who think God is in Heaven and Carrie is on Earth, and that hate every single other female country act. It's not like this but this is what is spread by your hate!

Ok, never again I will talk about Taylor Swift here! I'm sorry for going this off topic, but since some people here don't worry about it, I think I should make my point too.
