I thought I would start the Chart thread since I found this on HDD:

YOUR WEAKEND TOP 10 PREVIEW: Four debuts, and maybe five, are headed for next week’s leader board, led by Rise Against (Geffen/Interscope) with a projected 70-75k. That total appears to be enough for a #2 finish behind reigning champ TI (Grand Hustle/Atlantic), who has enough momentum to wind up with another 175-200k in week two. Then we’ve got #3 Jennifer Hudson (Arista/RMG) with 65-70k, #4 Metallica (Warner Bros.) with 60-65k, Oasis’ first for Warner Bros. bowing at #5 with 55-60k and #6 Ne-Yo (Def Jam/IDJ) with 50-55k. The next five slots are up for grabs, with three debuts—a Bob Dylan Bootleg Series set (Columbia/Legacy), a best-of from Tim McGraw (Curb) and a hits collection from Sarah McLachlin (Arista/RMG)—all trending toward 40-45k, as are Kid Rock (Atlantic) and Robin Thicke (Star Trak/Interscope). How did Faith Hill's Christmas album do anyway? I thought it would sell very well. Odd that it didn't make the top 50.

Faith's album was just outside the top 50 on Billboard. It was #51 and sold 11.2K. A Christmas album released well before Christmas doesn't generally make a big splash. It will pick up as we get into the Christmas buying season. That is why people shouldn't expect an initial big splash with the Christmas version of CR. The impact will be seen closer to Christmas.

I do hope the Carrie fans make a dent in sales with the release of the Christmas ed.
I know I plan to buy several.
I joke with my friends about the fact that they all have Carries full Cd collection weather they want it or not.
Let's hope for big numbers this week people.

I do think that CR sales will jump up for the first 2 or 3 weeks after it comes out with the Christmas songs because of the die-hard fans that won't be able to wait for Christmas....I'd say maybe a 10-20k jump??? From there a slight decrease thena pick up again with the actual holiday season.

IMO you're WAY overestimating the jump. If Faith sold 11.2K of a full Christmas album available at all stores its first week then IMO Carrie's not going to come anywhere near that with a bonus Christmas CD that's only available at Walmart. I'm looking for a CR sales increase of 500 to 1000 copies sold the first week and if it's more than that that's fantastic. Remember there'll be next to no promo and most people aren't buying Christmas music yet. The only people who are going to go out the first week are the diehard Carrie fans on the message boards and I don't think that'll be more than a thousand copies sold.

Keep in mind that even an increase of 1K would be a 10-11% boost to CR sales so that'd be good.

That's really strange. I just checked again, and the number that were there earlier are gone. I know I'm not imagining things, but unfortunately, I closed the site and did not copy and paste numbers, as I should have.

Sorry about the confusion - I'm confused myself.
