I think Kellie hurt herself a little with the dumb blonde routine. I know Shes smarter than that. Thats why IW wasnt a bigger hit than what it was.Theres only one Dolly Parton and when Kellie figures that out she will do much better in my opinion. She has a really nice voice suited very well for uptempo songs like RHH.This is JMO!!!

I think you guys are not judging JH quite fairly.
She has a very good voice (Carrie level of singing for her genre)
You can not compare her to Kellie Pickler.
I am not a fan of JH But a great voice can not be disputed.
On the other hand, when you have an ok voice and there are so many ok voices out there and people are watching how they spend, they are going to go with what they know, and that is that JH has a very strong instrument and they are interested in what she'll do with it.
Kellie is all personality which does not come over on Cd. And if the pennies are being pinched thats where people will pinch them.
The TS effect is unfair to judge against as well, as TS is aggressively being sold to underage girls and they are buying it. She may as well be from the cast of High School Musical. And no one cares if the cast of HSM can really sing. They are just Disnoids.
Kellie needs to find a forum in the entertainment industry that works to her strenths. People obviously like her alot. I like her. But I am not going to drive down the street listening to her try to sound like a professional singer.
Anyway, for great singing see "CMT Cross Roads-Martina McBride/Pat Benetar" WOW.

I was kind of looking ahead to see what, if any, tv exposure Carrie will have this fall to see if CR will get any bumps, or exposure/promo for the Christmas album.

Unfortunately---it is Not looking good for Carrie to be on any televised awards shows this fall except the CMA awards unless there are some surprises we don't know about.

Problem is-- most award shows that are mainstream like the AMAS or the Billboard awards only give out one token country performance slot- not 2. So it is between Carrie and Taylor for the slot.

Sadly I just read on Countryondemand and some other site, that Taylor will be performing at the AMAS on 11-23. That likely means Carrie will not get to perform at the AMAS this year because the token "country" slot is given to TS. Since TS will win all the Billboard awards this year as they are based on sales, Carrie likely won't get to appear or perform there either. Sort of a bummer.

So- there will not be very much tv exposure this fall for Carrie... she will be busy touring and likely won't be able to promote her Christmas/re-release at all, unfortunately.

Did I miss any other award show or tv opportunity? I was just really hoping that the CMAS are not the only tv exposure she gets this fall, as she needs some buzz/momentum going into the holiday shopping season to promote the new Xmas EP, etc.

Well, performing a CR song on the AMAs wouldn't do anything to highlight the Christmas EP anyway so Taylor getting a performance slot instead of Carrie would be totally irrelevant. I think the Billboards and AMAs are pretty much forgotten by viewers a half-hour later.

I would hope Carrie could perform one of the Christmas songs on a TV Special or something big like Oprah. I think she could find time to squeeze that in or do it the week after her last tour gig, December 14th. That's the volume shopping week before Christmas.

Somehow they gotta let folks know that new Carrie Christmas music is available.

true-- thanx. Perhaps Carrie can squeeze some time in to do a Christmas performance at the Rock again or the Early show, etc....

I think she should host a "Christmas at the Opry" special-- and get other opry members like martina, vince, trisha, etc- to each perform their holiday songs. It would be fantastic.

Carrie's touring schedule is so tight, I'm not looking for her to be seen elsewhere on TV. The longest break is during CMA week and I believe she will be quite busy making sure that she does a good job there.

Mornin' guys...As always, never a lack of subjects in the HDD thread...

1st, about promoting the CR re-release, it is possible she could get some TV & print ad support from Wal-Mart, as it is exclusive to them...I can't remember if they did anything for other exclusives, like the Eagles & Garth...I do know that when CR 1st came out, Target did both print & TV ads for their exclusive w/the DVD...

2nd, for the Kellie fans...Her Today show appearance was on back to back days, maybe all pre-recorded..Not sure...She did an in-studio performance of her new single, the next day she did an interview segment...

I've seen 2 reviews of her new cd...One of the entertainment mags gave her 3 stars...The new Country Weekly I got last night gives her 3 1/2 stars & calls it "a confident step forward..."There is also a nice feature article on her in the issue...

Oh, yeah, there's a Carrie mention in CW as well...An article called "Twists of Fate"...It tells stories of how twists of fate helped launch the careers of several top country stars...like Garth, Brooks & Dunn, Martina, Faith, etc...Of course Carrie's part is about how her mom offered to take her to the St Louis Idol auditions...

I don't expect much if any promotion of the CR Holiday Version when it comes out. Any promotion is likely to wait until we are closer to the Christmas buying season, say mid-November.

From what I have seen, the reviews for Kellie's album are generally good, running from average on the low end to very good. The only outlier I have seen is the review on All Music Guide (which are the ones referenced by a lot of sites including Billboard). I think he must have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed that day.
