I actually did a little investigating on the internet and found out that in order for TS to perform it would have to be approved by the government. She would also have to have a commercial visa to do that. Some of the local bars may have her perform there but doubt very seriously if its for the closing.

does anybody recall watching the ceremonies in greece 04 and aus 02??? i remember the Aus 02 closing ceremonies and it was always about showcasing their country's talents.
as i said before, if taylor really does perform at the olympics - i'd be utterly impressed by her and think she'll be able to solve the middle east crisis.

The ONLY way Taylor can perform in the olympic games in Beijing is if she sing this song "MEI HUA" (the national flower of China)..ha..ha..ha..

thanx! I feel much better now. I don't know why the taylor fans think it is actually happening then. I just went to lurk on the cmt board and there is a whole thread about it- saying she is performing her song Change at the Closing ceremonies... Not sure where they got that from. Change is the song on the soundtrack- that is confirmed as I saw the commecial for it a few days ago on tv.

Note: In Chinese culture (belief) the number "8" is special because when you turn the number upside down, you still get number 8. .
|
That is very interesting. My favorite nascar drive, Dale Earnhardt Jr, had a number 8, and now he is 88.
Happy to hear all this -- thanx guys. I want it to be a false rumor so badly- you have no idea.

that would be music armageddon - fear not carriefans, taylor's not taking over the world......at least not yet (i kid i kid)

LOL Scary thought....lol Well- Celine Dion is confirmed as a performer, but that is all I know so far. Celine is an international superstar though and well-respected in China...so that makes sense.
I have had nightmares for weeks about this actually. lol The cmt taylor boards still insist it is happening though.

of course, who knows? taylor's so good at marketing herself maybe she mastered chinese over the summer and set up a chinese myspace and won over many fans over there- in that case, whoever the new president is, should just hire her as their secretary of state.
|
lol you made my day! Thanx! And I agree-- it should NOT be all about the USA since we are not the host country.
I do recall that Kelly Clarkson was asked to perform at the olympics a few years ago-- but didn't she do an outdoor concert-type thing? She did not do the opening or closing ceremonies, that we know.
so maybe Taylor is doing some little concert somewhere-- but you are right that it would be unheard of for her to get picked above all those other international superstars.
What about Rianna? Beyonce, etc? There are much much bigger US artists that are actually well known internationally...for them to pick from. Makes no sense that she woudl be chosen.
But the Taylor fans on CMT insist it is true.

im guessing Taylor will be the first to find a pink unicorn too, huh?
I hope Lady Antebellum performs. i know there probably isnt much of a chance that they will, but if Taylor can, they should be able too. plus, they both recorded a song for the Olympics. if anyone has heard the studio version of either artists' songs, care to post?
btw, pink unicorns are more rare than the Common Whites.

But it wasnt the Nashville Star (that's the correct name?) winner who was going to perform then? I think I read that over here...Taylor has nothing to do with NBC, not that I know.

Taylor, as far as I know, doesn't have anything to do with NBC. What I was referring to is the fact that NBS Has paid well into the hundreds of millions of $$$, for the US TV rights. And as such, they are going to have an impact into what gets shown & what they need top do to boost ratings. I don't know if TS will be performing or not, but I do think NBC will have some say so into who does & who does not. Money will buy lot's of things even in China. Budweiser is the official beer of the Olymipcs, that's a pretty American Brand...or at least it was until last week.

^ lol Thaifood you are right that money makes the world go around.
I just hope China had some say as to who is performing at their closing ceremony-- since they are the host country and I am looking forward to seeing music from their country, and their culture.... It would be an insult to China in some ways to force TS upon them- when they have no idea who she is, and there are much bigger US artists to choose from.
That being said- TS seems to have limitless power these days- so I would not be shocked if it came to be.

Ron, I don't know if Budweiser is American or not these days. Didn't they sell out to a German company? That broke my heart.... ........maybe it's American made as always just German owned...sigh

Ditto.
Do you know how important this openning ceremony is ???? It is so important therefore, even airplanes are forbidden to land or taking off during the openning ceremony.
Beijing airport to halt flights during Olympic opening ceremony

Ohh ok, I see your point, and yeah you're right about that. I guess we have to wait and see what happens (for those that are really worried you can pray, do some curses agains TS, etc)
