Kelly clarkson did perform at the Italy olympics--- 2006. I don't think this was the opening or closing ceremony though- just an outdoor concert, right?

I think this one is "World Cup" soccer 2006, NOT Olympics 2006 because if this is olympics, the next olympics will be in 2010 and not 2008 .

Note: Olympic games is once every 4 years !!.

I hope the clip about Taylor singing "Change" is a wrong title too

The winter and summer olympics don't happen at the same time anymore. They are staggered 2yrs apart but each happen every 4 yrs. Did that make sense? The winter olympics were in 2006 in Italy and will be in Canada in 2010. The summer olympics are happening in China this year and will be held in London in 2012.

The Kelly Clarkson thing was not at the opening or closing ceremonies, it was an outdoor concert they showed during the Olympics broadcast towards the end one night when they were showing medal ceremonies.

By the way for anyone who wants another example of the teen market's takeover of the music industry, the Jonas Brothers are on the cover of Rolling Stone. The Rolling Stone cover doesn't mean what it used to, what with them putting the girls from The Hills on it but it says a lot about who the industry thinks is buying magazines and music that the Jonas Brothers got the cover. It's not about the quality of their music, because no one thinks any of these teen acts are making timeless music. It's that they're the ones who're selling now.

Davilas is right they have acts performing after the medal ceremonies to entertain the crowd and I have to think if Taylor is going that is what she would be doing not at the official closing ceremonies.

Ok this is going to be weird coming from me, but T can you please stop posting vids of Taylor on this site? Also I must say I am so sick of hearing about Taylor even from me that I am interested if anyone is willing to make a pact that those of us who choose will no longer mention Taylor Swift on this board, she is getting more promotion and whatnot than Carrie. If you are willing to make this pact with me just do a thanks thingy and maybe we can get Taylor off this site, I will be the first to acknowledge that I have been a major instigator in the Taylor talk but I am done with it. I know its slow in Carrie land but this has got to stop. Also I have not seen anything anywhere but here about her going to the Olympics and It seems silly to be even discussing it when there isn't even any proof, it is just twisting people up. Hope alot will join me,.

As much as I want her to do some promotion, I kind of agree on the overexposure. It may push people NOT to want to buy her album.

That's why I hope they leave a break inbetween singles from the CR-era and the new album.
You already hear of her being the "Queen of Overplay", so a gap between singles would give the country audience a break for a while. IMO, that's why SS had such a high debut when it was released. Wasted peaked in April and SS wasn't released until August. Country radio was dying for some new Carrie music.
