In Walmart near my house, "Some Hearts" album is in three section - Country CD, American Idol CD and Pop/Rock CD and "Carnival Ride" album is in four section - Country CD, Best Seller CD, American Idol CD and CMT CD.

true but it took taylor almost 2 years to go 3x platinum, whereas CR went 2x platinum in 2 months. If CR goes 3x platinum by the end of the year as Cary predicts---- it will still have done it WAY faster then Taylor did--- and without any remixing, barbie dolls, TRL interviews, or kissing butt on talk shows every single day, or begging people at concerts or radio stations to vote for her. I will take Carrie's approach any day over losing your pride or selling your soul- just to sell a few more albums. I think Taylor and her management realize that their window of opportunity may be limited to a couple more years and they are doing what they must to maximize their impact. Carrie is here to stay for a very long time and we will be the beneficiaries of her talent for years to come.

If CR has scanned over 2 million cds as of now, if she continues to sell at 15-20k a week, wouldn't the certification be reached sometime in the fall. I would think stores would be buying cds for the holidays. Cary's probably correct in his prediction. Of course if LN crosses over, all bets are off. jmo

^ I hope you are right JP. I do think that retailers will order big shipments for Christmas again....especially if LN and JAD do as well as expected ...etc. But perhaps it takes 30 days for the certification process from the date of order, so that would push the actual announcement of certification back to late fall, end of the year, etc.

I figure that CR will need to get to about 2.6 million minimum on Soundscan before it could possibly have shipments over 3 million. So that is about 500K more sales. At 15K per week, that would take about 7 1/2 months which puts it at the end of the year. If Christmas shipments are high enough, it could move that date up to early December or even late November.

That's about right. What the possibility or the probability that LN will crossover after it's run in the country charts? 20%---- 40%----- 50%---- higher, or sadly 0% ?

I'll give it a 40% shot. jmo
