AI finale is in 2 weeks.
Do we know if Carrie is performing?
Wouldn't we know by now if she were?
I think the slip is the fact that when CR came out it was a media blitz with 570.000 sold in a week. That is very big news. Now it's back to the same ol' same ol'. Carrie is doing great on the charts and getting lots of play and is at all the award shows.
But nothing is changing. her choice to make a very country album means less likely cross-over success.
We may have to accept that this is not the album that is going to send shockwaves.
It's perfect for what it has done (great concert songs), but it has alienated her audience alittle.
The people who thought BHC was cool, were ready for a pop friendly Carrie and instead they got the real Carrie (a country girl).
Carrie has been in the public forum for three years straight. that is amazing if you think about all the people that were permoting when she started and how many people have come and gone since then.
She is selling better than some of the biggest names in country, wheich is pretty darn good.
She's just not getting the hollywood buzz that she was.
LN may do it. but a little time off may end up being the only cure.
I really thing IKYW would do well on top-40. I am still hoping for that.

IMO, CR is more of a transitional album. Carrie already expected CR wouldn't sell as much as SH did from her Canadian tv interview. So I think CR was never expected to sell well compared to SH as to not overload the audience w/ overexposure and also b/c it is more country than SH was. It is giving people a break from seeing her all over the place like she was w/ SH but is satisfying enough people to have fairly good just not great numbers like SH saw. This way Carrie isn't overexposed but yet keeps her name out there and will help her seem fresh for her three album when it comes out. But CR is a strong album and holding it's own. I think there are still better singles to come out for CR and sales will at least stabilize if not increase. Carrie hasn't had any tv appearances in a while but the Opry and ACM's are coming up so I think things will pick up.
I think this album mainly had her concerts in mind and the songs they chose were to make her concerts more upbeat, fun. I think her next album will be more relatable songs like on SH that move people and touch their hearts. Not saying CR doesn't as there are some songs on there that are touching (i.e. JAD, IKYW, ITYS, etc.) just that I think SH as a whole was a more emotional album. CR is more of a fun album w/ a few emotional songs. People tend to connect more w/ songs that are more emotional or relatable songs than just upbeat songs, unless the song is just kicka** songs like BHC was. Not to mention, her songs on CR are country and the songs on SH were geared more towards mainstream audience so it will be much harder for CR to have a crossover song.
Carrie is just adding more varsity to her music so she can put on great concerts. The third album will be a reflection of both SH and CR imo or Carrie will surprise us and put something totally different out there.
Either way, Carrie is doing great and has a big fan base to sustain her for years to come as long as she keeps doing what she is doing and puts out great music and performs well on stage.

though this will put SH at nearly 6.42 Million and CR At 2.071 Million and just under 8.5 million sold combined in albums and All American Girl will Go Gold This week

I think Carrie's record sales are doing just fine. Look at what they're expecting from Madonna for first week sales, then look at what happens to them after a couple of weeks. Look at first week sales of established country artists. Now look at Carrie's. ...Every song released from Carrie has shot to number 1...concert tour is a sell out..The entertainment industry in general loves Carrie...fashion icon...If she's not the best right now then she's one of the very best. For me she is the best and she continues to manage her 'very' successful career without any compromise to her beliefs/values. Now that is tough especially in Carrie's line of work.

imo, theres nothing to rationalize about her sales. shes doing fine. end of story. but i guess this is a message board so people wanna discuss whats 'wrong' lol

The top 10 preview from HDD:
Quote:
|
YOUR WEAKEND TOP 10 CHART PREVIEW: Good news, kiddies—there will be five debuts in next week’s Top 10, and one of them will actually break 100k! That would be Neil Diamond, whose second Rick Rubin-produced Columbia album is headed toward the top of the chart, with a projected 125-130k. Behind the old-timer will be RCA/RMG’s debuting Clay Aiken, who should come tantalizingly close to six figures, with 90-95k. Madonna’s Hard Candy (WB) appears to be melting toward 85-90k in its second week, probably good enough for #3 in this age of diminished expectations, though she probably can’t wait to get her act to Live Nation. Another diva, Mariah Carey (Island/IDJ), will likely be next with 80-85k, while the sophomore album of J/RMG’s Gavin DeGraw is headed for a bow in the neighborhood of 70-75k, which would probably get him to #5. The rest of the Top 10 should go something like this: Toby Keith (Show Dog/Mercury Nashville), 70-75k: Leona Lewis (Syco/J/RMG), 65-70k; Josh Groban (143/WB), 50-55k; and Dierks Bentley (Capitol Nashville), 28-32k; with #10 up for grabs between Reprise’s Michael Buble Wal-Mart exclusive EP at 28-32k and Taylor Swift (Big Machine/Universal Republic) 28-30k. It would be great to have her sing IKYW.
First, it would wow 20 million people with her voice. That would sell CD's.
Second, it could be a final message to Jason that nobody is going to call .

Well after this top 10 update, I have no doubts that Clay will sell a little over 100k, like us Carriefans, you can't underestimate the Claymates!!! It is also so nice to see Leona holding up, she should definately and deservingly cross 500,000 next week or the week after!!! Well Done, and Carrie will probably have a slight increase this week, but then the next 2 weeks should be nice weeks seeing as how the Opry, ACM's, and Idol Finale are all within the same 2 weeks!!!
