But it seems to happen that you are only as good as your last hit record. If yourelease a few flops in a row-- you fade away for awhile, like gretchen wilson and leanne womak...sara evans too.

Sara Evans' recent songs are blah and forgettable, but she used to release fun popular songs like Suds in the bucket, etc.

Gretchen was on fire- but due to dud singles off a boring album 3, she faded away. Her new song is pretty good though so hopefully she will release a better album this tiime around.

That is why I personally think it is good to keep pumping out singles, but make sure they are good ones. I don't agree that you need to put out a new album every year though- every 2 years is fine like Carrie has been doing- because kenny and rascal flats, george strait, etc- put out way too many albums in too short a time span, IMO.. You are just getting into one album- when another one comes out.

oddly- they are never called "over-exposed" like the women are. Interesting that the men in country put out albums every year- with singles on the radio at least 10 months of the year, and are never accused of being over-exposed.

Also- the men can win the same awards for 20 years (brooks and dunn) or kenny (EOTY, etc)- and no one says they win too much like they do for the ladies. There is a double standard for women I guess.
I don't think Carrie is overexposed. I think her team should go for as much exposure as possible. It is worse to be dormant and then seen as a falling or fading star. If there is a lull between album 2 and 3, that would really worry me. She needs to keep releasing singles and stay on the charts until album 3 is ready.

However, when comparing the men to the women, there is one big difference as far as exposure is concerned. The women, especially Carrie, are sought out constantly for their fashion and sex appeal. Carrie has been on just about every magazine you can think of. How many men get that kind of exposure. Not too many. At award shows, most of the focus goes into what the women are wearing and their fashion statement. The paparazzi are constantly looking for photo shots that show Carrie in something revealing like a bathing suit or even when she does not look her best. They follow her on vacation and everywhere she goes. They don't do this, in general, for the men. All of this and more adds up to extra exposure for the women.

In general, I think it is all good exposure but for some, who are not strong Carrie fans or even have a real dislike for her, they see it as too much exposure. They want an excuse to put her down. What we need to keep in focus is that they are in the minority and we should not worry about them.

Keep Carrie highly visible is my position especially whenever/wherever she can sing.
