Well, I think the title says it all.
We should have known after last year...the whole ticket fiasco, the blood, the sweat, the tears. Alas, we never learn. As soon as the tickets went on sale for Delaware this year, there I was. Perhaps I should have just taken the hint when I couldn't find any good seats. Nope...I carried on.
But, I'm not a negative person, so let's start with the positives:
-We managed to catch up with plenty of great Carrie fans and friends, albeit not for long enough due to the long drive.
-Had a GREAT convo with Shawn and Garrett before the show. I know I always say this, but honestly, the band is amazing. Genuinely NICE guys!!
-Carrie sounded amazing, as always, tonight. It appeared to be a sold out show and the crowd seemed very into it. Most of the floor (except us-but we'll talk about that later) was standing most of the time.
-How on earth Carrie functioned in that heat and humidity, with those hot stage lights on her is beyond me. And on top of that, she was wearing the over-the-knee leather boots. She joked that they may have to be peeled off of her later. God bless that girl-for real. And she looked cool as a cucumber nailing all those notes. Some people have a gift (and apparently, no sweat glands).
-I wouldn't say Carrie was overly chatty, but there were a few good comments in there. My favorite was prior to The More Boys I Meet. She mentioned seeing herself in magazines and her mom asking about her new boyfriends (and she has to reply that she's never actually met these people she is dating per the rags). Then she talked about Ace and how great he was, except having to clean up poop. After the song ended, she commented that she talked too much and that we really didn't need to know about her cleaning up poop, lol.
-We got the special treat of a new cover song, though it came at the expense of the old Some Hearts medley.
-For the first time ever, Michelle and I got to see all the side screen videos that everyone has always talked about. Fascinating.
Now, for the not-so-positives:
-Our seats SUCKED. S-U-C-K-E-D. Okay, I KNOW we are seat snobs, but still. We were soooo far to the side that we probably could have made a few dollars valet parking people in the parking lot and still seen about as much as we did. Granted, there were people in the FAR back bleachers that had it worse than we did, but I just can't say that I'm a huge fan of the way this fair concert seating is layed out.
-How about 6 sections of THOUSANDS of people on the floor-and four total toilets inside the gates? Yeesh-there's gotta be a law about that somewhere. I walked to the bathroom after Lady A was done and there were (no joke) 50 women in line for the 2 port-a-potty's. 50 WOMEN...I woulda had a better chance of winning the lotto than ever getting to the bathroom!
-Meesh and I are not always the best decision makers. For all you kids out there-I recommend a nice square three meals a day. Don't fail to eat anything, drive 3 1/2 hours, stand outside in the BAKING heat and humidity, then INHALE nasty greasy chicken fingers and expect all to be right in the world. Let's just say that our stomachs were a bit sub-par. I'm not sure if I've ever seen an Italian girl (Meesh) look so green!
-How about just a couple more tolls Delaware? Seriously, drive for a mile, pay a toll. I think my EZ Pass bill is going to scare me.
At this late hour, that's all I've got. I wish I had more, but it's late and I'm tired.
Here are the only two terrible pictures I took, being so far away:
I did manage to get a pretty darn good video of the new cover song (Voices Carry), which is here:
On a separate note, since Meesh and I don't do nearly enough crazy things, we've decided to fly to California for the show there this Saturday. Thelma and Louise head west. Since we don't actually pay for our flights, she'll be flying via Texas (she's a Continental gal) and I'll be flying via Minnesota (I'm a NW gal)...if all goes well we meet in Cali and start what is sure to be an interesting roadtrip.
More tomorrow!!
